I cracked open the box of Partagas #1's I won on the crawl, they had been sitting in the humidor of the havana house for a long , LONG time the celo was all yellow & cracked on the cigars & they had a crummy burn, they need some time face down in the humi, , the taste was great but the burn was bad, fast on the top , had to keep touching it up every time I knocked off the ash, so now I have them on there side & will let them stay that way for a week or so & then give them a qtr .turn & they will be face down for a few weeks & then a Qtr.turn to the other side & give them some time to mellow out & then I will try an other one, hoping for a much better burn ! Enjoy, Vince

add to the above post:::::: the next 2 or 3 I smoked were 100% true, looked like some one used a T square to draw the line of the burn, so I guess there were just a few that were off . Enjoy, Vince

Good Morning America, how are ya!!!,
Say, don't ya know me, I'm your native son,
I'm The Blond(e) that you all call, The Great Dumboni,
And I'll be gone five hundred years,
When the day is done.

Just had a wonderful meal of four fairly evenly formed Garlic Bloofy Burgers, listening to the 70's Musical Channel, enjoying a tasting of No. 24 bourbon, Noah's Mill, 15 years old, 114.3 proof, and at 0413 hours, lit a . . .

:eek:mg: :eek:mg: :eek:mg:

I THOUGHT IT WAS THE CAMEROON!!! I have a feeling this is the CAO L'Anniversaire eXtreme. Not sure. If it is, I hope I've aged it long enough. I'll be hanging out an upstairs window part of the time, checking out the morning fog, first light, and at times catching up on Thursday and Friday's episodes of All My Children.

Good morning America!!! It's not Sunday, but I'm having a morning cigar. Have a great holiday weekend! Be safe all over America and around the world.

 :wine:

Good Morning Bloof, hope you enjoyed your morning cigar, what a way to greet a new day.
Just getting light here in the sunny south.
No All My Children for me, nor cigar (yet) walk the dog big mug of coffee and catch up on the news via Foxy.

It is Saturday & I see the natives are restless, I am sipping a mug of Peets Anniversary blend & have a little Jose Piedro waiting for me on the back deck, it is a WONDERFUL day here in Da Burgh , this past WED. we put my mother in law in a retirement home , now I dont need to drive 10 miles to her place to empty her garbage when she calls , it is going to cost a TON more than her Apt. did but we dont worry about her burning down the place when she forgets to turn off the stove, she has all her meals in the complexes dining room, so no more cooking for her, AMEN!!!!
I plan on having a QUIET weekend, & holiday, no loud partys , just a simple little holiday spread on the back deck & a few cigars , maybe I will go to a parade , maybe not , I just an in a wait & see attitude this morning I dont want to make any plans for more than one hour from now ! , I have a short timers thought prosses going on !
I will be going to the local cemitary to place Flags on the Veterans graves , & I will be smoking a fine cigar for the men who fought to allow me the right to smoke that cigar !
I did go to the eye Doc yesterday , looks like I will get a little cutting on the left eye, got a lot of scar tissue built up on the retna & it is distorting my vision in the left eye , so it is time for the scaple again !, no firm date yet , some time after the doc comes back from vacation, I want him to be well rested & recovered from his time away !
thats about it from the Burgh this morning , talk to you all over again Sunday Morning I hope !

Enjoy, Vince

Here we are we made it to an other Sunday morning today is the 28th of may 2006 , I got on the scale this morning & am holding at 215 ! feeling good & still enjoying my cigars, whisky, coffee , food & grandsons, not nessarly in any order mind you, I do get to "baby sit" the grandsons a few times a month, well it is more like granpa day care , where they take care of me , , Chase , the older one he is 10 is quite adept at snipping the tip off of a torpedo & can pour coffee with out dumping half of it on the table !, Jonas the 8 year old is not as out going , he is reserved & wants to stay with his mother , but has no problem going when I say we are going to Punks ( a local Ice cream shop ) he is in the car waiting for us ! , both of them love to go to the Blue Violet , it is the coffee shop across the street from the cigar shop. they both have Blue Violet logo T shirts with there names on them & get to "work" bussing tables when we go there & if they dont drop anything they each get a buck, but sly Jonas never wants the cash, he wants a large black coffee to go, for me , & he knows I will give him 2 bucks for the coffee ! , , Chase on the other hand will take the buck & ask for a Frapachino , for him self , I end up paying for the frapichino anyhow , but it is fun to see how different minds go about the same task !

I have some chicken breasts soaking in Italian dressing , they will get grilled later today , to hot to fire up the oven for the traditional Sunday Roast Beef , should hit the high 80's today & the low 90's Monday , time to turn on the A/C !

Last night my wife & I went down to the river park in Rochester Pa , sat on a bench & watched the ducks & the boats go by , I had a double decaf espresso dumped into a mug of plain black Foldgers decaf, I got a few bags of the single pot size to try, & it is back to the real grind it as you brew it for me ! , how can people drink this stuff when for a few cents more you get a coffee that is 100 % better, as far as aroma, viscosity, taste & color the rubusto bean is a distant second to a quality Arabicia bean . I am enjoying my Sunday Kona right now , well lets get back to last night , I took a few cigars with me as I have been known to do at times , on cigar was a Camacho Liberty 05 , A WONDERFUL Cigar IMHO
it was 6:30 when we left the house with Garrison Kealor on the radio we drove a little bit stopping at the Cemitary to visit Barbs Dad & make sure his Flag was in place , then back in the car to fisish listening to the news from Lake Woebegon, by the time he was telling us that all the ladys are strong , the men good looking & all the children above average we had pulled up to a bench at the river park, we sat on the bench till almost 9:30, now that is 3 hours & I am still smoking the Liberty, this was just fantastic !, 3 hours is a LONG time to smoke one cigar , unless it is a Puros Indios Chief !! it was a wonderfull evening spent with my wife . & I dont say that all to often .

The Birds are eating me out of the house , I put up a bird feeder a few years ago & was going through 10 pounds of seed a month in the winter & a little more in the summer , well I guess all the bird in the area now have found the feeder, I dont know what took them so long to find it but I am going through 25 pounds of seed a week now , Cardinals, Blue Jays ,Wrens ,Finches, sparroes, Chickidees, red wing black birds & a bunch of starlings all have converged on my feeder , I have the Bird crap all over my car to show for it !, now I need to remember to close the sun roof !

Well I have a cigar calling me, I should open the Humidor & see who is calling, it is a voice I am not ready to say what it is, so I will need to look at them all a bit & see who is calling the loudest ! hahaha , Enjoy your Sunday !!!
Vince

I just finished lunch & the cigar that was calling me earlier in the day, it turned out to be a Zino Shorty , a fine stick but to short for me , didnt last long enough so I had to fire up a a second one, I hate that ! , just to dammm much $$$$$$$ , but I feeeel fine now & had a banana & an orange for lunch, along with a pot of Peets Aniversary blend Coffee , tasty stuff , looks like this afternoon I will be sparking up a Mambacho , tripple legero , stand by for BLAST OFF ! hahaha Enjoy, Vince

Post holiday Update , Tuesday 30 May, 06
IT IS HOT here in da burgh today 87F at 1:20 in the afternoon, Glad I have A/C in the Qtr.Deck, still coffee weather, but now it is cold coffee, I make it stronger than I usually do & chill it , Dammm good stuff !!! works just fine with a Don CarlosIII at 6 am !
Enjoy, Vince

The annual sudden explosion of disgusting weather is upon us here too. Yesterday and today, high 80's and just disgusting. My understanding is that there is a cool down coming, which will supposedly last well into next week. I'm not holding my breath, but I sure am hoping for it.

87°F? Hot? That's what we usually hope it gets down to at night.

Then again, water freezes in Texas at around 50°F (as do most Texans). :p

Mikey, what can you tell me about the weather in TX, I will be in Round Top (between austin and houston). It is like FL heat? It says 90's around here, but its not too bad, maybe im used to it. But tell me, how bad is it?

I agree with Bloof and Vince. It was 92 here in the D yesterday, and just as hot today. The cool down is coming Thursday, high of 69. But, today is just hot, and of course I am at work. Nothing like a 700-900 degree house fire when its 90 out!!!

Well, there's something about 87 in the Northeast that can make you feel more uncomfortable than any place you've ever been. Even 78 in the Northeast can make you feel more uncomfortable than you've ever been. I used to tout it as the heat, humidity and pollution, but Vince is out in the country, and I'm pretty much out in the country, and the heat, humidity and whatever the heck just drains the crap out of you, makes you sweat even when sleeping, and gives you a horrible disposition.

I guess guys like me and Vince are just polar bears. Is it any wonder that in about another 8-10 years, I want to get to a place that gets even colder than here in the winter? Too bad none of the places I want to move to has a record high of only 65. :dunno:

By the way, I do know that the county I live in has a bad record on certain pollutants, including heavy metals, and land and ground water pollution problems dating back, in some cases, to the 1800's. Nonetheless, the air here is nothing like NYC, where I was born and raised and still work. THAT'S polluted!!! Still and all, an uncomfortable day here is just about as bad as one in the city, so it must be something besides pollution.

Some people say it's the hole in the ozone layer getting larger, and taking away some kind of protection. I do know that I noticed a distinct change in the climate in NYC back in '87-'88. I understand that was when big time destruction of the Brazilian rain forest took hold, as opposed to the minor incremental damage going on before that.

Whatever it is, whenever a Northeasterner complains about a temperature like 87, we get 100's too, just not for 142 days in a row like Dallas and Austin, but there's something "disgusting" about the weather that can really start to hit when summer comes on, and it's not always about the temperature. The "disgusting" factor is a combination of readings. :dunno:

Believe me Bloof, I would take a 20 degree day over an 80 degree day anytime!!! I love cold weather, and actually prove it by going swimming in Lake Huron on New Years day. Last year I had to walk out on ice for about 50 feet before I hit open water, and there was 3 inches of snow!!

It's a lot like Florida, actually. The closer you get to the coast, the more humidity you have to deal with. This time of year is actually rather pleasant if you're used to a little heat.

we hit 91F in da Burgh today , first time in May to go to 90 in 10 years , glad I have A/C in the Qtr.Deck.

Tell me about it. I was outside all day on Mon - Wed doing landscaping. With the humidity, it felt like closer to 100 degrees (according to Accuweather). I must have sweated off a few gallons of water.

Glad that on my day off I can screw around at my parents house in the cool AC while the wife thinks that I am helping them outside. hehehehehehe!

:cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh:

I'm with Capt on taking 20 over 80 any day. I'm with Capt all the way to the bank of the river. After that, he's on his own. :sm_angel: I'll be waiting at the shore with a burger and a bourbon for the Cold Capt.
