The Mother in laws car is GONE, sold it last night for 500 bucks , clean & simple, cash no check, so now the cash will go to the bank less my 20 bucks for gas I put in the car to get the guy home ! , Teen ager , what he wants with an old ladys car is beyond me, I guess it had a lot to do with the price ! I will be willing to bet with in the summer he puts it into a tree or some thing , dont see the kid making it the winter beater he wanted to keep his Camaro in the garage , this Lumina is in better shape than the camaro, no body work on it , all the same Orginal pain, cant say anything like that about the camaro, but the camaro has a 350 CI V8 , just what evey 18 YO kid needs hahahaha , had he been a bit older I might have offered a cigar , but the smell of weed was strong on this kid & the sooner I had his cash he was down the road ! Truely every parents nightmare ! hahahaha
Enjoy, Vince

Sunday Morning 6/11/06, Good morning all, it has been a fun week here in the Burgh the weather has been FABULOUS, mid 70's during the day low 50's at night , leave the window open sleeping weather, , I am not having my usual Kona this morning I am having a Hawaiian coffee from Kauai , a nice change , a little more acidic but the viscosity is a bit "thicker" it is a light roast coffee much like Kona , I am enjoying it a lot.
My mother in law is adjusting to the nursing home very well, she hasn't called us to "get her out of this place " since the first day she was there , it has been 3 weeks now & there is PEACE in the house now, no more 2 a.m. calls to come empty her trash or 9 calls a day asking where her car keys are , it is great for me But barb misses talking to her very evening , we are going to take the Grandsons up to visit her this week, they still have there Fathers Grandmother living as well as there Mothers Grandmother , I do remember 2 of my great grandmothers , had to speak German to one & Italian to the other one , neither could speak very much English , but both did learn it a little , with all the kids they had translators coming out of the wood work, my Grandfather on my mothers side ( the Italian side ) was 1 of 13 , ( good Catholic family ) but on my Dads side the family was a bit more consecrative German Lutherans only 5 on the Grandparents generation , My Mother in law was the Baby of 12 so there are lots of Aunts, Uncles ,Cousins at the Family reunions ( good thing this isn't W.Va , you don't go there looking for a date ! hahaha ) although I do have a few cousins ........... but that is for an other board hahahahahaa any way it has been a good week for me , & not so good week for Barb . Alzheimer's has taken her mother away from her , funny how the mind works she didn't know who my daughter was but knows who her kids are , cant remember my name but knows my phone number to call when she wanted her trash taken out .GO Figure !
I have had a great week with the cigars , smoking like a house on fire , this past week I was averaging 7 or 8 a day, & even by my standards thats just a bit to much , dammm the cash I spent on cigars this past week , about 5 bucks a stick lets see thats about 35 to 40 bucks a day , but some of the sticks were Gray- cliffs & a few Diamond Crowns & 2 Double R's from Davidoff & a sprinkeling of Cubans , tossed in the mix ,that would shoot the average cost of the cigars over 50 bucks a day, Dammmm I better get a job if I am going to keep smoking like this , the stock pile will be gone in a few weeks if I dont refill it soon !
I hear the Boss is getting up & I should get off the computer to make Breakfast for the both of us , I am almost out of coffee & need to make a second pot , the paper was late getting here this morning so I havent had a chance to look at the Sunday funnies yet , dammmmmm I have a lot to do all ready today & it is not yet 9 a.m. !!!
I have some chicken breast defrosting in the fridge , I have no idea what I am going to make with them , but i have all day to think about it , maybe just grill it, to warm to make chicken stew or a pot pie, , I will ak the boss what she wants, I know her answer will be POT ROAST hahahahaha , it is her favorite meal, if she were going to the gas chamber that would be what she would want ! ( BUT I CAN ONLY DREAM ABOUT THAT hahahahaha )
Time to start the bacon & eggs , so you all enjoy the reast of the Weekend & have a Sunday morning smoke , I have a Connecticut wrapped Condega Torp , waithing for me as soon as breakfast is done, I di have a short walk this morning & a Short Story instead of the Don Carlos III , since I didnt have the Sunday paper to read on the back deck I didnt want a to big cigar ! , I do have a Grand master for after lunch ! Yummmmmy ! Enjoy, Vince

How ya doin', Vinny babeeeee??? It's an interesting and cloudy spring afternoon here in the place with the mean spirited name. At 1437 hours, I lit a box pressed, fairly well aged, from Desk Top IV, Punch Rare Corojo, 6x50, maybe 52, and it's tasting good. Catching up on this past week's All My Children's, currently in the middle of Wednesday's episode. The latest plot lines are all very interesting, all based around the theme of "the enemy of my enemy, is my friend." :sm_angel: :sm_angel: :sm_angel:

Here's hoping that all the AmBack family is safe and well. The weather here has been similar to Vince's, but a bit cooler on some days. As far as I'm concerned, the whole summer can stay this way, when summer comes, that is. 8) Enjoying a nice, two shot glass, straight up, of the new young Sazerac Rye, a rather monotonous, but very tasty and really inexpensive spirit, No. 7 on my Top Ten.

"Breakfast" was grilled (actually, baked :sm_angel: ) cheese sandwiches on Matthew's cinnamon raisin bread, no garlic this time, although I occasionally will spoon a pressed whole head (avg. 15 cloves) on three of these sandwiches whenever I make them.

The cigar's still tasting good. A little disturbance a few minutes ago, shortly into this post, by a large family selling raffle tickets.   Go away, The Lord bless you, but please leave me alone. 8) :cryinlaugh:

Vinny baby is doing JUST FINE, we just got home from my grandsons dance review , 4 hours of a hot High school auditorium , no A/C on , & watching a bunch of kids who cant count to 4 trying to keep time with the music ! dammmm I hope my daughter was better than that when she danced , , but in he fathers eyes she was great, but I did see the flaws in the grandsons, I asked her about it & she said I was right , she saw the same things I did, well I guess the eyes are not as bad as I thought !but I am getting
the left eye operated on next month , the retina is detaching in a small spot in the canter of the eye, I have a hole in my vision from my left eye , so far 3 lazier treatments & a few steroid shots in the eye it self haven't helped so it is time for the knife ! Dammm I am not looking Fwd . for this one, & I have a trip to the parasitologist for a colonostomy also next month, nothing like having a TV camera shoved up where the sun don't shine ! , but I have had One before & the prep is the worst , the test it self is NOT as bad as the prep !
At one point today there were 3 motorcycles in my driveway, seam like all my buddys were out for a ride & they all stopped with in a half hour of each other , none of them knew each other so now they all have new friends who bike & smoke cigars , but not at the same time !!. I looked at a Goldwing the other day but it was a basket case, all the parts were there, all in shopping baskets , I passed on it , I guess i might just need to hit the lottery & go out & get that new BMW I want & get it over with, but I need to hit the lottery BIG before I spend that kind of Cash on a motorcycle, just think how many cigars i could get for 22K bucks !, I guess the house on the hill over looking the river will go on standby also , just till I hit the dammmm POWER BALL ! hahahaha
Have a good night all !

Enjoy, Vince

Happy Fathers day to you all !it is Sunday the 18th of June ,06 , just about 9:25 AM here in da Burgh, I have had my morning walk & Kona with an Opus X , Forbidden X this wonderful morning, , hey its fathers day & I should be able to get about 5 or 6 more Great smokes in today I have the day off !, no cooking for me today I made a big dish of chicken salad last night & thats what is for supper today .

Yesterday was a great day , a buddy picked me up at 10:30 & we spent the day at a cigar shop, there was a roller there ftom Puros Indios & I sat most of the day watching in AWE as he made some of the best smoking cigars I have ever had, triple Wrappers starting with a light wrapper on the foot, a nice Brazilian in the center & a maduro cap to finish the 7.5 X 50 cigar , it smoked so good I asked him to make me a box of them ! YUMMMY is all I can say about them, I also picked up a box of Cuba Aldis maduro toros , & a few corona fresh rolled right off the bench, I was in CIGAR HEAVEN, I won a P.I. Shirt & big Humidifier for a humidor , that will always come in handy, there was a lot of great food there as well, black beans & rice that was seasoned to perfection , pulled pork, beef brisket, baby back ribs & some great home made cookies , I did go a little cookie crazy & had 3 , first cookies in a long time !!!!
My wife just informed me we did NOT hit the power ball again hahahah so what else is new spend a buck to win over 100 Million, sure I get a ticket but the biggest hit I have ever had was 3 bucks on the power ball, I hit for 25 bucks on a scratch off ticket last week so now I am still a few hundred bucks in the red on my lottery tickets hahahahaha !

My Mother in law is happy at the nursing home , Thank God , she is with out a phone & stopped calling me at 2 am to empty her trash ! , she is in good health other than her Alzheimer's is getting the best of her, My wife misses her mother something fierce , she is there in Body but you cant carry onn a conversation with her much, she still knows a few people but some times she is clueless where she is & who she is & who we are. it is a sad day when we visit, they used to go out all the time , they were the best of friends , now her mother cant carry on a conversation , she just cant remember anything ! SOME ONE SHOOT ME IF I GET LIKE THAT ! PLEASE !!!

the birds outside my window had me up at 5 am this morning, the feeder was empty & they were all out there chirping & chirping , hey where are the dammmm seeds ! , I still haven't filled the feeder , let them eat off of the ground under the feeder for a day or 2 there is a circle of seeds about an inch deep & 3 feet across under the feeder, man they are messy eaters ! hahaha

I have the A/C on in the Qtr.Deck all ready we are going to hit 90F here so said the weather prognosticator, so I will be seated in the comfortable Qtr.Deck with a few cigars & a pot of coffee , the CD player with sime Sunday morning Classical music & some Jazz later today I should be able to spend the entire day out there less the time I need to go to the bathroom ! , I should have had a bathroom installed in the Qtr.Deck, but then I wioould never need to come in the house ! hahahaha , maybe next time I build I will ! hahaha , but it will be in the next life UNLESS I do hit the lottery hahahaha !
Time for more coffee & I have a few cigars calling me, should be a nice quiet day the grandsons went camping with thier DAD for the weekend so I should not be interupted by anything but cigar buddys looking for a cool place to smoke today ! , have a great Sunday , Enjoy, Vince

Vince, I just reread your post. Are you trying to tell me that your area is on Central time, or did it just take you an hour and seven minutes to finish typing your post. I can tell you right now, it took me an hour and seven minutes to read it. :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :neer: :neer: :duh: :cryinlaugh:  :sm_angel: :bolt:

I got a phone call right in the middle of the post , by the time I went to the bathroom & made a second pot of coffee & got back to the computer it was about an hour !
all things will be clear to you & explained when you become enlightened, in my case it will most likly be on my death bed ! hahahaha

Enjoy, Vince

As long as you're not trying to tell me that Freedom, PA is in a different time zone than Fishkill, NY.

:cryinlaugh: :rotflmao: :cryinlaugh: :pumpkin: :pumpkin: :sm_angel:

My Sunday cigar was a Don Bienve Limited Reserve Churchill, in Desk Top III about 7-8 months. It lasted from 1653 hours to 1823 hours, with one episode of going out while I was doing some work in the house. It was paired with a two shot glass of 25 year old demerara rum from Guyana, by Hallmark of St. James.

The cigar had strong tobacco notes throughout, with an extra smooth, medium body. There were also occasional notes of chocolate wafer.

not only is Freedom in a different time zone, we are in a different era, we still have kids driving the John Deere to school !!!!!!
hahahaha
Enjoy, Vince

You are NOT in a different time zone!!! :argh: :banghead: :argh: :banghead: :cryinlaugh: :rotflmao: :pumpkin: :pumpkin:  :sm_angel: :duh: :duh: :dunno:

R U SHURE?hahahaha, ok so we are in the same time zone, just a different ERA, do you have kids driving the family John Deere tractor to school????
Enjoy, Vince

We have plenty of that around here. John Deer, Mrs. Deer, and all the little deers. Sometimes they like to step in front of your vehicle on purpose. :cryinlaugh: :sm_angel: :bolt:

Barb got a deer with the car a few years ago, had to get a new front end for the car, she hasnt wanted to drive much since then,, we have been here 33 years now, & the rural area has become some what suburban, getting close to Urban , I hate it !!, when we first moved here there were 2 stop signs between our home & the turnpike , now there are 13 traffic lights & the 2 stop signs are still there !
Dammmm Yummies moving out to the country have made it a real mess, a field that I used to hunt small game in is now a housing development filled with $200K homes, back 28 years ago I could have got the entire medow for 150K ! , but there were no utilitys in the area yet, no water lines so I would have needed a well , no sewers so I would have needed a septic system, No phone lines with in one mile or electric lines , so I didnt take it , dammmm How could I could have been so short sighted ! , now it has it all, plus cable TV & home milk delevery, some things I do miss & home delivery of Fresh Cold milk is one of them !
Such is the price of "progress" hahahaha , Enjoy, Vince

Yes, I remember all you have said through the years about the "progress and development" mentality that has arisen in your area. That same crowd has started a "boom" here going back to '99. The resulting outcry and uproar by those who have either been here forever, or moved up twenty or so years ago, has caused certain plans to be delayed and/or drastically altered in the quest to accomodate all the folks that want to live here.

Thankfully, those voices are being heard, despite the onslaught of the commuters. These commuters are willing to travel en masse further than ever to work, but despite becoming more suburban every day, Dutchess County still maintains a stretched out, semi-rural arena, the type that guys like me moved up here for. Of course, I originally saw that ending around the time I turned 60, and eight to ten years from now, when I hit the 58-60 range, I plan to be in a vehicle on my way out of here for good, hopefully to a place where it's too cold for most to move, having farms, waterways, and overall being too cold and remote to build much of anything.

That is, if such a place exists in the year 2015.

Take hart my friend there will be a place for us some where ! I dont know if I will be here in 2015 , maght be in some nursing home by then ! , I just hope they let me have a few cigars each day ! hahaha Enjoy, Vince

Come on up to Canada boys, there is still lots of countryside to live in up here - if you can take 6 months of winter weather that is.

Gee thanks for the offer, But I am as far North as I want to go, , I want to put away the winter coat & break out the sandal's, , I would love to be in San Diego , but I don't want to be in the big Quake when it hits !

I would like to be in Hawaii but I cant afford to live there ! I would love to be in Fla. , South Carolina, Georgia, or on the Gulf coast, but I don't like hurricanes , so that rules out the entire Caribbean area , but I might want to rethink that some time , maybe Central Americia , but my Spanish is limited to "Dos cervasa pourfavor "
( 2 Beers Please )

I dont like winter, I dont like summer , I do enjoy spring & the fall, so I might just become a Gypsy , & move with the seasons ! , keep cool, not hot, not cold ., BUT the grandsons are here , so I dont think I will be going any place far or soon !

Enjoy, Vince

Bikeman, Canada is definitely in my sights, and six months of winter is no problem. Make it eight to ten months of winter and you've got a deal. If people hear there's only six months of winter in a certain place, they'll put up a strip mall the following Wednesday.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :argh: :soap: :banghead:

Bloofy my friend, you would not last 3 days with the eskimos, they dont have GARLIC ! , I have cooked just about every cusine in the world BUT eskimo, reason , they dont use GARLIC, think of it my friend, where would they get Garlic , every thing is frozen there !, they cant grow it, as the summers are to short & the Garlic dies when it gets to minus 40., , , , , , , Think about it !
Enjoy, Vince
