What a way to start the day, the phone wakes me at 8:15 AM, , my surgery this Thursday got bumped back to 9:30, instead of 7:30, why did they find the need to call that early , dammm I had just got to bed at 5:45 AM, ( it was a GOOD EVENING, ) I had a fine old Cuban Monte" A ", that lasted all night , then I was to wound up to sleep full of nicotine & caffeine, not to mention the weee dram I had about 10 PM , by 4 am I was wide awake & ready to go, , well back to the wake up, she starts to ask all kinds of medical questions, what meds do I take, what was my last BP, & that kind of BS,dammm lady I just got to sleep, & you woke me up & want me to be coherent? Call back after I have had a pot or 2 of coffee ,ok, she calls back about 10 minuts later, I havent gotten out of bed yet & still need to $hit,$hower, & get dressed before I get to the coffee, well she was "BUSY" & had 14 other people to wake up this morning, , so call me back after you call all of them !, what a pain in the @$$.. well I got up showered & put on the coffee, didnt have a half a cup drank , RING, Ring, I let the machine pick it up & when she was leaving the message I picked up & all the feed back went right into the phone, she got a little ticked, & she told me,TO FRIGGEN BAD, & I hung up , took the phone off the hook & had a pot of Kenya AA , put the phone back on the hook & waited about 10 minutes , she called again, you know I have a lot of people to talk to this morning & you are not helping out with your negative attitude , well that all I needed, I got in the car & went over to the hospital in Person, had a hart to hart talk with this ladys supervisor , Now I am worried , will I get to much gas when they put me out this Thursday? hahahahahaha
well I stopped at the barber shop on the way home, left a pound & a half of hair on the floor, & came home to a second pot of Kenya , switching to the decaf for the rest of the day, I need a cigar & a drink ! BAD !!!!!
Enjoy, Vince

Ohhhhh, I'm afraid you're gonna have a Bad Day At Black Rock, Vince. Not nice to talk to Mother Superior like that.

Elsewhere in the nooz, we have a lot of folks who own and even drive antique cars up here. Here's a link to a recent nearby festival:

CC or Alex may have to condense this link. It looks too long, and I don't know how to do that.

Watch out Bloofy, I heard it's 25 lashes with a wet piece of fettucini for that kind of offense! MING IS WATCHING! LOL

Well the hospital DIDNT call this morning BUT the Doc did , it was only 8:45 , so I was almost up , awake but still in bed, so I got an early start on my cigars for the day, had a short walk this morning before Breakfast of one egg & one strip of bacon, a big mug of Ethopian dark roast & a Factory Direct robusto from Tropical , I will be getting some company from the post office this afternoon, some of the guys i worked with are stopping for a cigar today, the Qtr.Deck has the A/C running & it is ready, I was going to clean a few ashtrays & run the vacume , but who was I kidding, it is just fine for the bums to trash just the way it is !
Enjoy, Vince

the eye sergury went well I was back at the doc this morning, he said it looked good, but seamed a little dry so I need to sit or lay face down till the gas bubble they put in the eye disapates & the eye refills with the liquid that is naturaly there, , I have a little pain but not much, the neck hurts more than the eye, but it should be ok in about 10 days to 2 weeks, Update when I have more info ! Enjoy, Vince

Good to hear Vince!

Kepp up the coffee therapy, lol

And maybe have a weeeeeee dram to take the edge off.

Glad to hear it went well Vince! I'm looking forward to hearing more from you on the Blowin' Smoke podcasts!

Good morning , it is Sunday 23 July 2006, , I haver had a very quiet week here in da burgh , I am working with just one eye right now , & need to keep my face down , with the gas bubble in the eye I need to keep the little bit of liquid in the eye down on the lens to keep it moist & stop it from getting a cateract, , I have been trying to sleep face down & I have found it very painfull to the low back, I have been sleeping on my back for years, when I was at 417 pounds there was no way to sleep on my stomach, , But now I have to position my self to keep the lens wet so it is face down, I do have a foam ring to use but it is very uncomfortable, but I guess a few weeks of this is better than a second surgery on the eye , , I have had a lot of company this past week, smoked a lot of Great cigars , got to share about 3 hours with Doc Mark Schniderman the cigar baron to some of you , yesterday we sat on the back deck & fired up a few Camacho Libertys 2005's & had a Just for Retailers (JFR's) from Tabacaleria Tropical, what a wonderful smoke , I cant wait for the Sunday morning cigar & coffee as soon as I am done with the posting here this morning, the cigar will be an other JFR, the coffee is of course Kona , afterall it is Sunday, I have a pot brewing as I type, the next pot will be a kenya AA , or maybe a Margoheppie , or a sumatra , I dont know what kind of a mood I will be in when the Kona is done, I will most likely give all 3 a little sniff & mabe a taste of the whole beans before I decide what to grind, maybe a second pot of Kona , who knows ! , OHHH BTW the Doc was impressed with the Qtr.Deck, it was his first time to visit , but I didnt get a photo of him with a smoke in the Qtr.Deck so that will have to be next time
I will be makingng some cheese ravaloi today , the pasta will be mixed up , rolled out & cooked about 4/4:30 the sauce is on & will be ready by then, so if your in the area, be sure to stop for a taste hahahaha,
There were a few guys here from the post office where I used to put time in ( notice I didnt dare say worked at ) , we had some laughs & dranka few cold ones , it was a nice visit, one guy hadent seen me in a few years & when I saw him last I was about 400 pounds & now at 215 he didnt believe it was me ! , dammmm it feels good to be at 215 ! , well I need to get face down & keep the eye moist so I better get off the computer , Enjoy your Sunday Morning ! Enjoy, Vince

Can you people believe with all the stuff Vince goes through in life, he still has time to be the consummate cigar smoker and chef?

Hi, my name is Vince. I just had both kidneys removed, part of my liver just spilled out of my body on it's own, I have one eye left, and the vision in that eye is 20/600, and I'm having my right leg amputated at the hip tomorrow, but come on by, I'll put a pot of coffee on, pour you a wee dram, and let you have at my humidors. After that, we'll all have a nice home-cooked meal out on my quarterdeck. Sorry Ol' Angus won't be out back to greet us, but we'll have fun anyway.

Y'all come back, y'heah???

Gotta love that Vince. I'm loving Vince with a fresh Freedom Press of Colombian Supremo, contemplating whether or not a cigar is in order. Five major life crises/responsibilities going on for me right now, fresh, possibly roof-related water problem in the house, and please DON'T come by, even if you know where I live, but I wish you all the best and The Lord's blessings nonetheless. :cryinlaugh:  :sm_angel:

Its not that bad Bloofy, I have everything under control here , I am a hospitipal person, grew up that way, I need to do things for people, & cooking is what I do best , ( aside from BS) but I enjoy company, I love to share my good fortune with others & friends are the best things to share, new or old a friend is a friend, so dont worry about me I am just fine, the coffee is always on & if I am between pots it only takes a few minutes to brew up an other pot, that will give me time to pull out a cigar or 2 for the guests & pour a weee dram for all If they want one, right now I am working on a Lagaulinin 16 YO, I had this bottle put away for DocBarry when ever he would show up hahaha but It just said , you can get an other one OPEN ME NOW ! so I did hahahaha, I have a nice Camacho Diademia & they pair up very well, the coffee is Costa Rican Peaberry, I dont have the foggest idea what I will brew up next , maybe a pot of "Foglifter "if I have any of it left, I do think there might be enough for a pot, but I will need to check to be sure, it is hard to remember what is there some times my wife will make a pot of the last of a batch & not tell me it was the end , so I think there might still be some when there isnt any , but there is enough coffee here to make it till next month anyhow ! , I hope every thing works out for you my friend & that the water leak is a small one that will fix it self ! Time for me to get back face down to let this eye heal a bit , Enjoy, Vince

My Sunday moring smoke turned into a sunday afternoon smoke becasue I got to sleep in longer then normal. I normally have to work at the golf course on Sundays but becasue I have been putting long hours I got the weekend off. I enjoyed a cigar that I was excited about and had been wanting to enjoy since I got it a few months ago. It was a C.A.O. Camaroon. Very great cigar. I was sitting on my dad's deck next to the pool. My fieancee was with me who loves cigars and used to smoke them before she meet me. She didn't smoke one but she loved the smell of mine and took a few puffs. She loved it. I knew there was a reason I loved her. The cigar was great with an even burn and smoked it almost to the nub. I recomend this cigar to anyone.

I love the CAO Cameroon, from way back. DocBarry used to give me his all the time, because he knows all the big shots and gets freebies. He says they taste like a flat piece of wood, but I like a lot of wood in my cigar, although I admit they can be all wood sometimes. I guess they're an acquired taste. More for us.

I am not seeing all that well, did you say the CAO Cammeroon gave you wood? hahahahaha

Ahhh....Sunday. Today was going to be a great day. It was the final stage of the Tour de France, an American was going to win, and some friends were coming over to watch, eat, and drink. (Luckily for me, they don't mind me smoking cigars but would never think of smoking any themselves.) :)

So after watching the tv coverage, I went out on the deck and lit a Punch Rare Corojo. With the rest of the champagne, it was a winner.

But then everything got kicked up a notch. A good friend had brought his guitar and played flamenco music while I smoked and we all talked and drank. You could almost see the sound of the guitar mixing and dancing with the thick smoke of my cigar. (Maybe I had too much of the bubbly....)

If you have never had the pleasure of listening to flamenco music, give it a try. Even after seeing it played in front of me, I am not sure how those notes can be played. I think the music goes well with cigars. Oh and did I mention the flamenco dancers??

Hey Vince! I am glad to "see" things went well. Take care. And if the vision is not so good in that eye as it heals, watch out for those door frames! They always leap out at you from that side.

I too have been watching Le Tour whenever I can - it seemed to go by soo fast this year for some reason. I thought that Floyd had really blown it a couple of days ago, but he pulled it through in the end.

It has been a fantastic Sunday - I grilled some Salmon for supper - and ate way too much - and now I am enjoying the rest of the evening in my cool basement while I re watch the final Tour stage. I am also considering a cigar - it will probably be an Indian Tabac Cameroon that Rob sent me to try and bring me over from the dark (maduro) side. We will see how it goes.

Vince brother, take care of that eye - you only have two of them and can't get another one brother - be patient, it will heal in good time.

Everyone enjoy your week ahead, and enjoy those cigars!!

I've smoked a few cigars over the past couple days. I went nuts on cigarbid...

I landed some decent deals on some cheaper cigars so I can train my palate. I also grabbed that special of those unbanded Nestor Maduros.

The first two cigars I lit up burned terrible.. one of the Fighting Cocks burned from the inside out.. it was weird. The Duque lit up nice and for the 2 minutes I could muster out of it were nice, but the darn thing was plugged up so bad I tossed it. These cigars are a buck each for a reason, I thought.

So I decided I may have some luck to let them sit in my makeshift coolerdor a bit before I can smoke em. I couldnt take it anylonger and lit up one of the Oro Cubano's tonight. (its funny how reading about cigars and looking at the pics will make you crave one like none other!)

I love to listen to music, and I really havent had a chance to go on a cruise for no reason in a while. So there I am cruisin with my Churchill Oro Cubano in my mouth on a Sunday night... life is good! 8) I drove around a while, and returned home with about half the stick left. So I sat on the patio and finished it off. The darn thing wouldn't end, but I wasnt complaining. :)

My first impression of this cigar is that it is worthy of more then the "buck-a-stick" title. After I go through these Churchills I think I'll get a box of robustos since Churchills are a bit much for me. (I mean who has the time these days

Boy, I just cant get over how smooth of a smoke it was. According to the CI page this is a medium bodied cigar... I would disagree, it seemed sooo smooth and mild to me. No bite in the taste, no tingling at the back of my throat, it didnt make me have that nicotine high even after 1.5 hours of smoking it. Def a sleeper in my book.

Sounds like you got your money's worth on that last one. Reminds me of the time I bought a box of Hamilton's House Churchills on some kind of closeout deal at one of my favorite web sites. Just another cigar that the "T word" would refer to as a "casualty of the boom." Well, that casualty was one of the best purchases I ever made, because I think I took two or three years to finish them, having the last one a couple months ago, and they tasted good all the way through. I paid about $1.30-something apiece by the box.

Good news, Just got back from the eye doc, he said everything is looking fine, go back next Monday for a check up, got some drops
( steroids) so now I will have a Huge muscular eye ! hahaha , still need to keep the head down & sleep on the stomach, but I guess its better than having it cut again ! , the Doc is a BUSY man , My apointment was 7:30 this morning & he had 5 ahead of me , I didnt get out of the place till almost 9:45, Now I need to go & have a little breakfast & lots more Coffee ! Enjoy, Vince
