He never answered my question about whether or not The Glenlivet 21 is any good, just said if it was free it was great. :duh:

Yes it is a fine dram, the only thing that would make it better is if it WAS FREE !!!

I stumbled down stairs got on some clothes and drove off to get some fantasic Peets coffee ( I am far to lazy, and hung-over this morning, after watching my San Jose Sharks beat Pittsburg to make my own coffee), they had sumatra on tap which I really love.

thats spelled PITTSBURGHHHHHHHHHHHH, Dont forget the H,BTW Great Coffee

Well, of course, it costs a lot of money. The thing is, my birthday is a week after this guy's, and he's usually more generous to me than I am to him. :sm_angel: :bolt:

Dont worry about what you give & what you get, some people are more afluiant than others & can afford a pricey gift, its not what the cost of the gift is, I make a lot of my gifts my self, like home made salsa, or hot sauce, BBQ sauce & I have been known to make a batch of Brandy here & there but I remember not to talk about it on the forum ! hahahaha !
relax & enjoy the ride , some day you might hit the lottery & be able to get the guy an entire Keg of single malt !! , Enjoy, Vince

That's okay, he's happy enough with one special bottle, and would probably prefer that I not spend all that on him. I know it's all coming back at me a week later, so I really don't bother to worry about what I spend on him. Maybe one day we'll be handing each other kegs, a week apart. :cryinlaugh:

I feel sorry for you guys that had to work today, but I am glad that you are willing to do it for the rest of us.

I had my Sunday on Saturday this week, it was a beautifull afternoon, and I managed to sit in the yard and smoke a great Series R Toro that was gifted to me by Motion123. It was a great cigar that went well with the Kona Mocha that I had made. I then switched gears to the remains of a 1990 Vintage that I had started a few days before. Just as an experiment, I changed the drink to weak ice tea, and I have to say that the lighter drink goes well with the stronger cigar.

We have had a taste of winter here already this week with a bit of snow, and a taste of that famous winter wind. On Friday, with the windchill it was almost -10 Centigrade. But we are still walking and driving on dry pavement, so that is still a blessing to be sure.

Have a great week ladies and gentlemen, and remember the chat in the early evening, we have quite the party some nights!!

if you find a job you love you never work a day in your life, when I was in the kitchen for 35+ years I loved ALMOST every day , the times when things went bad were few & far between, the time I spent in the mills was Ok some times & selling cars was Ok some days were a lot better than others , but I loved my 4 years on the air at 1460 WMBA, best time I ever had & got paid for it, not much pay but I didnt mind it one bit, the 7 years at the Pittsburgh Post office were shall we say a JOB, I still have a lot of friends there & am glad to be out of the place , Now I know why people shoot the boss at the post office hahahaa, But Now at the cigar shop, man it is the best, I get to BS to people just like when I was on the radio, but NOW I can smoke at the Job, its not WORK when you love it
Enjoy, Vince

Vince, I trust your Veterans Day went well. Thank you for your service, and thanks to all Vets. America, home of the free BECAUSE of the brave.

This morning, I'm having my black coffee, while enjoying a 1989 vintage Belinda Belvederes. Later, a 1999 Montecristo 2.

Welll its Sunday Morning 12 Nov.06 we made it through an other week & it is time for the Sunday Morning Smoke / review of the past week kind of thing here at the Qtr.Deck , all the damage & wet cigars have been taken care of at King Beaver Cigars , we got in a ton of cigars this past week, so EVERY THING in the humidor is Fresh as the morning due on your ear lobe when you spend the night out in the grass watching the stars & smoking fine cigars .All we need now is to sell them so we can pay for them hahahahah!!

I have been putting in a lot of hours at the shop this past week, & am a bit over smoked , if that could be a bad thing BUT I dont know, there were a lot of cigars that got wet, & I had to make sure they were not bad, so I was averaging 8 to 10 a day , trying to determan if they were sellable or just smokeable for the staff, or just trash , well a lot of them were trash, & went in the dumpster ( OH THAT HURT )& I have been doing my best to make sure that Quality of the product remains HIGH , almost as high as myself after a Qtr. bottle of Cast strength single malt . Like I said before , you find a job you love , you will never work a day in your life , well i have found a few jobs in my life that i loved , a few I liked & a few I disliked , but it all worked out in the end, ahhhhh what a sweet word, RETIREMENT ( with a part time job I love ) , the pay is so low , BUT the fringe bennies are GREAT, Cigars , coffee, music & BS , what more could I ask for ????? & YES there is a bottle of single malt there & 2 snifters , if anyone wants to stop for a weeee dram, I am READY !
My Wife Barb & her sister are going to a craft show today, so I get to stay home & cook supper, just like any other Sunday, GREAT WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT !, she will be out of the house I will be in the Qtr.Deck with no one to call me on the intercalm , the phone will be off the answering machine on & the Jazz with be smooth & some what loud , Bob James, Weather Report , Miles ,Diz & the Count , 5 CD's I should be good for the day !!!!
I got a weeee bit chilllllly last night so I will get the heat on in the Qtr.Deck soon , a Don Carlos #4 today, I dont know why but that little torp just called to me this morning & I by passed the #3 , & the Kona , made a pot of Tanzanian Peaberry , I just dont want to fall in a rut & drink the same thing , some the same cigars & do the same things every day I want to change things up a bit , eating Lobster evey day 3 times a day you will kill for a ham on rye with swiss & spicy brown Mustard so I am switching the Sunday Kona for what ever I find in the front & if the kona gets to the head of the line on Saturday or Thursday, that will be its day .
I started to take Vit. E this week, I dont have any idea why, it was sitting on the shelf right next to the Calicium I take , so I picked it up & put it in the shopping cart , still havent felt any different hahahaha, , the next time I see Omega 3 fish oil on sale I am going to start that one, dont have any idea why I just think it might be good for me, but then it might not , but as far as I can tell I still need a little help in the wellness deptment , , the RBC went from 12.4 to 12.8 , still low but getting better !
we did POD cast #25 Yesterday our one year birthday of the POD cast, recorded live at Alleghney Smoke Works In Blawnox Pa.
to listen to any of the Blowen Smoke POD casts got to
http://www.Burghherfers.com
& click the link to the pod cast , dont for get to Vote for the cigar of the day !!! We got to meet Big Joe from Tenn. & his lovely wife Jenn yesterday at ASW , they came up to be on the pod cast , then after supper we all went to King Beaver Cigars in Monaca for a night cap & a smoke , ahhhh yes , its great to be the KING , & thats just how I feel about my life right now , the house is paid for the car is all mine as soon as the state sends the title , it is paid off ( & just in time to trade it in on a NEW ONE hahahahahaha )

I had a wonderfull week at the shop & here at home , the grandsons were here over night Thursday , No school on Friday for VETERANS DAY , SALUTE to all you Swabbys dogfaces, develdogs & flyboys & you shallow water sailors also!! Well Done & Welcome Home!. & to all you Jar heads , Happy Birthday Nov.10 , I have never seen a 6 Tier birthday cake cut up with a dress sword in such a fashion with Grace & Agility , it was as smooth as the silent rifle team!!!
It is about time for me to get the heat on in the Qtr.Deck & have a second pot of coffee as soon as I get ride of the first pot hahahaha, dammm this is a pain in the bladder, drink one pee 3 !! its worse than beer !
Have a great week every one & if some one gets a note from Cian & his first mate tell them we miss the exploits of the Islands !
Enjoy, Vince

Vince, I gotta tell ya, I look forward to reading your Sunday morning exploits. Good job. And yes to all the brothers and sisters out there, take some time and remember the ones that didnt get home. Rest in peace brothersand sisters.

PB, I have a great time posting here & have been able to meet a lot of great cigar smokers over the years, the next time your in the Pittsburgh area you should stop at the Qtr.Deck for a smoke & a sip ! Enjoy, Vince

19 Nov. 06 It has been a quiet week here in da Burgh , every one getting ready for Thanksgiving , I did my shopping & have a small bird in the cooler getting a refreshing dip in aromatics & a little salt & sugar , this is going to be one tasty bird , I have always brined my birds when they had defrosted, this time I am defrosting in the brine , just to see what happens , I did cut back on the amount of salt by one cup since it will be in longer & I am changing the brine every 24 hours , keeping the temp under 40 F & with the load of salt I have in the brine I dont thing I will be developing any critters to make anyone sick, but that we will find out Thusrday night or Friday morning hahahahaha
We are back up to speed at the Cigar shop , KING BEAVER has a brand new stock on the shelves , still waiting for some product & thinking about adding a second walkin Humidor , just running out of room !!!!!!

I picked up a new CD by Jim Brinkman on the Windom Hill lable , I havent had a chance to listen to it yet but I have an afternoon in the Qtr.Deck planned with a Christmas tree that need to be rewired , I hate this , looking for a broken wire or a loose bulb BS , the dammmm thing will not light , & I cant just toss a C-note tree away with out trying to save it , the bottom 2/3's of the tree are fine , just the top isnt lighting up , this is the LAST prewired tree I will ever get , with a string of lights that you put on the tree , easy to find a bad bulb , next new tree will be a Painting on Canvas with real lights stapled to the canvas ! , Put it back in the box all ready for next year !!! So my Sunday Afternoon is planned, I have the fixings for a meat loaf ready to go , mashed spuds & some kind of a veggie a little gravy & that Sunday supper , my daughter just called & will be up to eat, the boys are with there father & out for the day so I get stuck with the Pain in the @$$ this afternoon , she just started a new job this past week as the manager of a beauty supply shop & I had a Gourmet candy apple delevered for her & her help at the shop , dammmmmthing had better be good at 8 bucks each , dammmmm a lot of cash for an apple !!!
I have a pot of Christmas celebration coffee brewed this fine Sunday morning , a little blend of Kenya AA , Moka Java , Egg nog & hot butter rum , with one drop of Peppermint flavoring for the entire pot , still undecided on the peppermint in the coffee, mabe I should just have used a candy cane to stir it hahahahahaha , theree is a little hint of caramel in the taste , I wonder where that came from ????
Barb is down one more pound & I am still holding at 226 up from my low of 215 , I will be keeping an eye on that , at 230 I hit the panic button so I am starting to cut back on the carbs all ready & adding more protene & water to the diet , it took way to much to loose the 202 , no reason the weight should slowly come back I am going to nip this before it bloooms !!!!!
I have been smoking some great cigars this past week, one that I enjoyed a WHOLE LOT was thge Camacho Select , I had the toro size & as soon as I ca get a second box they will be on the shelfe at the shop, this box IS MINE , hahahaha I also was able to enjoy a Nicaro Torp this week, I havent had the time to sit down & enjoy many cigars at woirk always being busy , well I thought I was fairly well caught up in the stock & pricing , I had a great CD in the player, Ahh this is Louis Darling & its so nice to have you back where you belong , so I took a break with a coffee & a cigar & enjoyed my self for a little over an hour , no phoine calls no one stopping in , to BS , just a few walkins who grabbed a few sticks & went back to work , Great for me , & the sales, I will admit I enjoyed the H3ll out of the Nicaro Torp , check with your local cigar shop for Nicaro & others fine smokes from Tabacaleria Tropical .

the Trees are all bare at last , we did the last of the fallen leaves yesterday , the year looks some what good, I was able toi string the icecicle lights on the awaning over the front & back decks with a little help form Barb , Guys when your wife wants to help just grit your teeth & let them help , do it there way no matter how long it takes , it saves an arguement , just kick back in a passive mood & say yes dear , do it her way , the reward is NO FIGHT , then make sure you rub ger aching back & feet from all the Help she gave you , grit your teeth & bite you lip, soon she will figure out that being down wind of the cigar & the farting , she will get bored & GO BACK INN THE HOUSE WHERE SHE BELONGS , it took about 45 minutes but it was worth it !!!!!! I was able to redo everything with out any "help" & finished in about an hour , that allowed me some free time in the Qtr.Deck with a cigar & coffee , ahhh yes the PEACE & Quiet of the Qtr.Deck!!!

The Boys were here Thursday & spent the night, dammmmm they are getting big, the oldest one ( Chase is 11) & he is starting to fill out like a young man , Jonas who is going to to be 9 In Jan. still is thin as a rail & a quiet little kid, he still like to sit on your lap & talk as long as you make smoke rings he is a happy camper !! Ig I had it it to do over again I would skip Fatherhood & go right to being a grandfather hahahahaha , its the best, you get them all fired up & send them home with there mother hahahahaha , now she is getting back what she gave me all the years she was a KID !!!

Last tank of gas I got 24.5 MPG on my Sable ( just had its first tune up since it was new & I was getting almost 22 MPGs before the tune up ! ) & by the way I JUST got the title back from the bank who has been holding it till it was paid for , so Now it is MINE ,. Alll Mine , & with alost 140K miles on it , I think it might be time for a new one hahahahaha , we got the car with 1700 miles on it , a demo unit ( the owners wife was driving it ) , it was the color I wanted , ( Green ) & had the options I wanted, Sunroof & all the rest of the bells & wistles but no CD player, well it was easy to add a CD player to the car with a remote starter & alarm , , & here I am 5 years later & it is all paid for hahahaha
well it is time for me to get to the kitchen & start the Sunday Supper , head ot to the Qtr.Deck & have a cigar & work on the dammmmm tree while the meat loaf is in the oven, have a great Sunday & the rest of the week ! Enjoy, Vincxe

it is a given , 6 am sunday, coffee & a dc 3, back to bed about 730 up at 930( if the wife is awake hahahaha ), & if she isnt , little vinny will wake her hahaha , unless the grandsons are here , then i just stay in the qtr.deck till its time form me to cook breakfast
enjoy,Vince

As long as there is a DC 3 in my humidor I will be smoking one a week, I used to start every day with one, but now I have cut back to one a week, it might sound stupid , but you would get tired of caviar & lobster every day if thats all you ate , & I did stop the Sunday morning Kona also for the same reason, Now I drink it when every it is in the front of the line, I rotate the coffees I have , & right now I have about 8 different so the Kona is every 8 days , but when I run out of some thing & it might get moved up to every 4 days or so till I refill the coffee , I like the change & I dont want to get in a rut ! , unless the rut leads some place like the bed room hahahahaha !!!!! Enjoy, Vince
