the body shop will only have the car a few days & I just dont want to go through the trouble of getting a rental, the insurance will cover it & I can get the same size car as my Sable , but No sunroof, so I will wait till summer & get a Convertable !

Delayed response, sorry.....It was a pleasure to meet Cybrus and his wife for brunch. Thanks for the gars. Vince, glad to hear you are feeling better. Hope to see you next time we get together!

it is Sunday 18 March 07, it was a Fine St. Patty's day yesterday , I did have on the "Green" but didn't have any green beer , but I did have an American version of an Irish meal, I had Corned beef & cabbage, how ever the real Irish never were much into corned beef, , the beef it self & the salt to cure it were to costly in old Ireland & the Irish who came to America found them selfs with out the Irish bacon they loved so well back home , living in NYC next to a large Jewish population the corned beef was available & low priced so it was adopted by the Irish to have with cabbage & potato's , a poor substitute for bacon , but a great match with cabbage IMHO , I did wash it down with a weee bit of Bushmills & later some Jamison , dont want to be Pro Catholic & not have a weee dram of the Protestant whisky to balance things out , personally I am Lutheran , about half way between the Protestant's & the Catholics, how ever it has been years since I did anything about it , right now I listen to the sermon by Rev. Pillow at St. Mattress , Sunday is the only day of the week I can sleep in past 9 am , & this old body needs a day of rest & thats just what God wants us to do, Rest , he did ! so I do !
it is cold & snowey here in da burgh with the wind chill it is about a +15 F , the air temp is about 25 F, but the wind just cuts right through you, BUT I will be turning on the heat out in the Qtr.Deck as soon as I get supper in the oven , so I will be out in the Qtr.Deck with a fine cigar,,, A Camacho Candella Robusto, snifter of Johnny Walker Green & a cup of Kona hay its Sunday in da Burgh & I dont want to change any traditions to far from the norm, I have a New CD to listen to today An Orginal album classic , the remastered CD of the Dave Brubeck Quartet , TIME OUT, with one of my all time favorite pieces Take Five , got to be in my top 3 of all time right up there with Harlem Nocturn & Topsy part II , BUT I would like to add that the tip top recording that I LOVE , higher than any Number one , is Louie , What a Wonderful World , OHHHH YEAAAA , Nothing can top it IMHO , that song just moves me , when I saw Good Morning Vietnam with Robin Williams , man it gave me chills to hear that song , dammmmm great times & horible times are associated with that song , but the good times always come to the top & the bad times seam to fade from the memorie , & it is a WONDERFUL WORLD.

The shop has been a bit slow this week , sales are good but not much time for customers to sit & BS , , the weather has been fickle all week & it seamed like every one was busy doing some thing , a few of the regulars were able to sit & BS & made the week go fast, we even picked up 2 new steady customers this week, , so if we can get 2 a week steady, & keep picking up 2 a week for a year, dammmmm the place will always be packed , Saturday Night we did out 32nd POD cast & there were 3 Ladys sitting there with Cigars , you can listen to the POD cast at http://www.burghherfers.com
just click the link to the POD cast, Vote on the cigar of the day rumbble in the bundle & if you want to be part of the show , let some one know on the listener line or E mail Rob , the link is right there to do so .

I was almost in shock this morning , I went into the Humidor for my Sunday Morning Don Carlos III & there went any !!! , dammmm I forgot to open the next box last week when I had the last one , good thing I had a spare box in the humidor, but I hate to smoke them cold , I keep my long term storage humi at 55/60 % & then I bring them up to about 65/70 when I am ready to smoke them , well I must admit , I didnt see any difference today , I was going to go for a walk with the Don Carlos, but it is TO DAMMMM COLD , so I went for a ride in the car insted, a real lazy mans walk hahahahaha all the way out to the car ! with the remote starter , it is Heaven ! the car was nice & warm ready to go !
well I need to get out in the kitchen & get started on supper & get it in the oven , that way I have all afternoon to sit in the Qtr.Deck & listen to Brubeck, Miles, & Beethoven , I might even find a Fats Waller tune in the mix today who knows till I get out there ! , Enjoy, Vince

Just about noon here in 85638. Morgan Earp was murdered 125 years ago today at Campbell & Hatch Billiards, right down the street from here. I'm sure there will be some kind of observance. So, I got the gun strapped on, the Harley ready, and I'm taking along a Bolivar Royal Corona, and a PSD4.

sounds like a great place to live & absorb history along with a Cigar !!!!

I know, right? The Colonel has the life. Get strapped and mosey in to town. Clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop, evenin' Missus Hassenfeffer, how's yer husband and 'em fine kids o' your'n? I'll have the boyahs at th' ol' Bar Dubya send out some extra t-bones fer ewe folks. Tips the 25 gallon hat, and . . .

clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop, clip, clop, all the way to town.

Hassenfeffer, yea , I havent had rabbit in a long time !!! Good Idea !!!!

I spent Sunday afternoon sitting on the back porch enjoying a Gurkha Symphony while my wife was watching Pahntom of the Opera. She came out to join me after a while because she told me that she enjoys the smell of "those things". Been married almost 3 years and I'm just now being told that she likes the smell of my cigars. Oh well, it was a good day, hopefully I can enjoy a good cigar more often.

Craig

Wasn't able to fit a cigar in yesterday - spent most of the day running errands and by the time I was done, it was too cold out to smoke. Oh well. Maybe next week!

Had a great time Honey - looking forward to trying that restaurant out that mentioned. Let us know when you want to do that!

SWilson80, that's how women get the position of rulership, by arranging things over time. Don't be surprised if certain "rules" vacillate through the years as well, like five years from now she changes her mind about the smell of your cigars, and four years after that, goes back to liking it again. Don't ask, I report, you decide.

Bloofington, thanks for the heads up on that. I go outside to smoke my cigars or pipes anyway... at leats until we get into a house where I can build a smoking room. Hopefully that will be in about a year. I guess she can't complain too much, I recently upgraded her weding set.

dammmmm buddy your making us look bad, up grading the wedding set, Do YOU have ANY IDEA how MANY CIGARS you could have got for the money you spent on something she all ready had ! ???? hahahaha , Enjoy the ride my friend, it has been 36 years for me & my wife ! , & we havent killed each other YET !
I do have a smoking room & I can be found there when I am not in theKitchen, bathroom or the bed room !

whaoooo it is Sunday , 25 March 07 Spring is here , dammmm its NICE outside , the Qtr.Deck will get aired out today, smoking with the doors open & the windows UP , forecast high today is 69 F , I will be resuming my morning walks in a few minutes , Don Carlos III in hand & a big mug of Kona , the birds are churping , building nests & $hitting all over the car & Qtr.Deck, I might need to clean the OUTSIDE of the windows, not the inside, getting that great smokey patena on the inside , dammmm I am proud of the nice finish I have on the inside of the windows hahahahahaha
I have been going to the chiropractor 3 times a week & am still sore as all get out , just havent been my self since I broke up the fight a few weeks ago , well its been a month or so now how time flys
I did get into the kitchen early this morning & made an onion & hot pepper cheese omlet for the wife & my self with some bacon & an english muffin , the portions are a lot smaller now but I still have the taste for more than just a plain scrambled egg. , I did pick up some great looking RED bell peppers & made stuffed peppers , thats whats for supper today .
I have a new supply for coffee Toricidor coffee in New Castle Pa, not sure of the spelling but the guy who rolls cigars what ever he is called , thats the name of the coffee company , I will be getting my first shipment some time this week , cant wait to try it , my taste buds are all ready dancing in anticipation !

The BIG mound of snow at the end of the drive way is GONE, all melted, I thought it would be here till JUNE !!
lat night on our cigar ride I was pulled over by the local police , my tail light & brake light are out on the left side , I have a body shop appointment set for Monday & a rental ready to pick up , the officer was nice about ti , didnt give ticket but told me to bring the car back to him as soon as I get it back from the body shop, ( I think he just wants an other cigar , hahahaha )
I had a wonderful little Cuban Monte #4 last night , great smoke
for some strange reason I find my self smoking more coronas lately , not my usual toro or Double corona , but I am smoking more per day as they dont last as long as the bigger cigars , But I did have a tiny little Maria Garihra half corona that lated just over an hour with out needing to relight it , dammmm fine little smoke I was impressed ! , we picked up a big bunch of tinned pocket packs for the winter, but not many of them sold, so I think I might just need to start smoking a few of them & see what happens , the CAO's & the Trinadads are selling like hot cakes at a church breakfast, but the rest of the tins are just sitting there, look like I will be smoking the 4 X 44's for a few days , & not re ordering them for next winter !!!!
the cows are in the field next to me , gone are the black Angus replaced by a smaller herd of Swiss Browns , dammm I miss
Ole Angus McStudd , he was my hero, the new bull is a lot tamer & isnt making as much noise when he is doing his thing, you could here ole Angus all over the area, he was one loud SOB !
As time moves on people get older & I guess he was just to much for Mr.Teets to handle so he had to go & from what I hear he did bring a Great price .......
well I fell a cigar walk comming up verrrrry soon, so I need to go put on a pair of pants , shoes sox & a shirt , get out of the Robe & slippers, put on a second pot of kona & dig out a DCIII , I might even get out my summer straw hat with the wide brim, it is sunny out there !!

Enjoy, Vince

Love the Montes. I've been on a Monte 5 kick myself lately. Maybe it's because of having so little time to smoke these days.

Enjoy, Vince

Almost noon here in Tombstone. A brisk 72° here. Just finishing coffee, and have "Unforgiven" on the tube. Got the boots, chaps, spurs and John Wayne Rig ready. Deciding on which Stetson. I'm off to the OK Corral and maybe the Crystal Palace. Taking along a Monte Edmundo.

Sounds like a fun day for sure. I remember going to Tombstone as a kid and having my pic made by Les Moores grave.

Here Lies Less Moore
Four shots from a forty four
No Less no moore

Vince - you'll have to tell me how you stuff the peppers. That sounds fantastic!

And let me know how that coffee turns out - I'm always looking for another good coffee source.

stuffed peppers is SO dammmmm easy, get a few large bell peppers, any colors , the red are the sweetest, then the yellow & orange, the dark blue/purple are next & brown ones, the green are the lest sweet of them all IMHO , you can use hot peppers if you want , but the bell peppers are nice & fat & my wife & I split one & that is plenty for both of us , some pasta or mashed spuds on the side, great meal, well back to the recipe, , cut the tops off the peppers & pull out everything inside the pepper, take a mix of ground beef, pork & veal or what ever you use for a meat loaf season it up just like the meatloaf & just fill each pepper with the mixture, put back the tops you cut off the peppers , secure it with a few tooth picks , add a can of tomato sause to the crock pot, add the peppers to the sauce & cover with more sauce , put the lid on it & wait about 4 hours on high , time to eat !!!!!
I will be getting the coffee from Rob the guy who is incharge of the pod casts, , well no one is in charge , he just owns the equipment ! , if you have ever listened to the POD cast you will understand he is not in charge of anything ! hahahahaha Enjoy, Vince

IT IS SUNDAY , & no fooling it is April 1 ,07

it is raining here in da Burgh & the grass looks like it needs a trim, but that is going to WAITE for a few more weeks, I sure dont want to start some thing that will keep me busy all summer long , this weekend is the maple fest at Brady's run park , the committee has been tapping the maple trees for a few months now , or how ever long it takes to gather up all the sap , well they have been busy little bees & boiling it down to syrup for the past few weeks & today was the Pancake Breakfast , rain or shine they were out in force , last year they served over 10K on the weekend, & the weather was just OK, they were hoping for that again this year but I think the rain will cut it back a good bit , I worked it back when I was at the radio station & Froze my tofus off , we had snow sleet & freezing rain & still had 8K it is warm but wet today , maybe they will get the 10K between yesterday & today, I know I will be warm & DRY , as far as I am going today will be the QTR.DECK
& speaking of the Qtr.Deck I was all ready to brew up my Sunday morning Kona & right in front was a Bright yellow can of Cuban coffee , & since I have a few Monte #4's in the humidor , I just thought Hummmm good coffee good cigar, looks like Don Carlos will be waiting a bit for my visit today , I will be heading out to the Qtr.Deck asap !! taste buds are EXCITED !!
Yesterday was "live stock" day at the club, 2 nice young girls one blond one brunette , the blond was a lot smaller than the Silicone enhanced dark haired vixen, but Both were dumb as a stump in conversation afterwords I found I was talking to an intellectual equivalent of a 13 year old if that, dammmmm , good looking but DUMB, I guess it is true what they say about blonds , I dont know if she was a natural blond or not , the carpet was bare . & this year I didn't get in any pictures as I had in years past, this way I dont get in any trouble !

We got a new wall mounted Humidor at the shop , 6'6' X 6'6", so now we have 2 walk ins & the wall mount , along with 20 lockers. We have a third walk in for box storage in the planning , looks like we opened at the right time in the right place !!!
I took my car to the body shop last Monday , I got the check for the damage from the insurance company & figured it was about time to get it fixed, so I drop off the car & take off in my rental, the next day my nephew tells me my car is at the Vo-tech High school body shop, getting fixed, the hood is off the rear bumper is off & it is sitting outside , well I drive up & there it is , dammmmm , had I wanted the kids to work on it I would have taken it there my self, & put the insurance check in my pocket less the parts & paint, the labor would be free ! , Now when I go to pick it up Monday I dont think I will be paying the full price the estimate had , I will be asking for at lest a 50% reduction in the labor cost , maybe MORE !

Pittsburgh Pirates baseball stadium, PNC park had a Montecristo lounge on the club level of the park, well the Nanny state city council passed a no smoking policy for the city & county , even fined a Lithuanians national alliance hall Bingo $16K for allowing the Bubbas to smoke when they were playing bingo , thats a lot of cash , so the club is now gone, No more cigar nights at PNC park
it is going to far, the NANNY state has got to go, Isn't this the land of the FREE? To many regulations on our private lives , as long as I am not hurting anyone I should be allowed to smoke anything that isn't against the law to smoke . & last time I checked tobacco was not only legal but subsidized by the US GOVERNMENT & TAXED to the tune of Billions each year , make it so I cant smoke & you get NO TAX MONEY , DUMB S.O.B. pollititions

it looks like it is time for me to get supper in the oven so we can eat about 4 or 5 today , no idea what I am going to make, I sure hope the boss got something out of the freezer !!
Enjoy, Vince
