First of all, Happy Birthday, Vince!

Second, I appreciate you giving a review of that Beethoven cigar, Bloof. I have seen it at my B&M going on for nearly a year now. Just from them being there that long, I knew I would get a nicely aged cigar. Now that I've heard that it is a solid, great-tasting cigar, I will definitely give it a try.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Thank you all for the birthday greetings & tom , I havent ever heard you in better form , it was short of magnificent ! hahahaha , the steaks were beef but I did manage to burn the corn when roasting it , just a little , my daughter showed up just as the beef was comming off the grill , good thing she was alone, the boys were with there dad fishing I think, so she drops in at supper time , she knows she will get a great meal here & not need to cook for her self, so we made the 2 rib eyes feed 3 of us, good thing they were T H I C K !! ( about 1.75 inches at the center ) , 12 minuts for one ( mine & 18 for the boss , she likes it a little to well done for me , well we each chopped a piece off & made a third plate, dammmmm kids !hahaha
I pulled the cork on a new bottle of Cragenmore single malt & switched to a columbian supermo coffee after 2 freedom press pots of kona the afternoon cigar was the JFR torp. a big SOB, unfinished foot & 100% puro Nicuraguian , (JFRis JUST for retailers ) , I have no idea why it is named that but it is a wonderful cigar, the maduro masterpiece was a real eye opener , lasted almost 3 hours , got to listen to some Weather Report ( a jazz groupe) out in the Qtr.deck today & we went to visit my mother in law at the nursing home , she has altzhimers & has no ida who my wife is , she thinks she is her sister some times & her grandaughter sometimes but knows who I ma most of the time , her son in law but cant remember what daughter I married go figure ! she has no idea who her only grandaughter is but knows her greatgrandsons by name, , she asked me who the nice lady was that brought them to see her today ! , I said that was not a nice lady that was my daughter the big pain in the @$$ , then she asked who is her mother ? Duhhhh, well it was a great day here in da burgh dispite the trip to the nursing home , dammmmmmm thing is costing a ton of cash , split 3 ways ( she has 3 kids ) & her pention & social security pay most of it but but it still bites us a few hundred each month, she is costing me a LOT of Cigars ! hahahaha , my brother in law & his wife were there also & she kept asking if they remember her husband, ( the kids father ) & why he never visits anymore ( he passed away about 6 years ago,) but she still thinks he is at work. well its almost time for me to go to bed, early doc appointment in the morning then off to the yard to cut grass before I open the shop, dammmmm I cant wait till the grandsons are big enough to cut the grass , maybe next summer hahahaha !
Bloofy , I just remembered what a fine man Leaf Erricson was , he set me up with one of the best galleys I ever worked in, we cooked everything in beer, the water wasnt any good on that ship hahahaha

Enjoy, Vince

GOOOOOOD morning all you herfers & lurkers it is Sunday 20 May 2007, the day AFTER Cigar crawl #9 , dammmmm I must be showing my age now as most of the shops are handicapped accessable & I used the ramps not the stairs hahahahaha , well we all had a great time but a few did get a weeee bit to much to drink, ( NOT ME hahaha ) , we went up to the hotel of departure Friday to get some what of a good nights sleep& be at it early, but not so early that we had an hour drive to the hotel had I slept at home , well the coffee shop was supposed to open at 7 am & at 10 after 7 the waitress shows up & walks in to a DISASTER , no one had cleaned up or restocked frommthe night before , the place was a $ H I T H O L E , but with no place in walking distance & the bus leaving in 45 minutes I jumped in with both guns blazing, hey I was in the food business over 40 years & I know what it is like to run a place , so I bussed a few tables made coffee & had all the crawlwers filled with coffee by 7:30 I went into the kitchen myself & cooked a few eggs & went back out to the dining room to slid them down my gullet, bam , Time to OPEN the "Brandy " before we get on the bus , ahhh yeaaaaaa, Thursay was a good vintage hahahaha
the driver was a moocher , didnt smoke cigars but wanted a bit of tribute from each shop , hey buddy its you job, you get paid , at the end of the night we tip , but he was hitting up all the shops for a weee bit of kick back, hey man I brought you all the business you should toss the driver a bone , what a sleeze !
well the morning went off with out a hitch other than breakfast being a bit of a botched one car parade , OH yea after I did all the clean up coffee serving & cooking I got a Bill for my breakfast ! S.O.B.
well back to the day, the shopa were all ready for us & we had a great time , many tall tales were told & a few even thouth they had a grain of truth to them hahaha , I didnt fair well in the prise dept. this year as i had in the past, I di win a 50 count box of Cheep Bastard Churchills , I havent yet opened them & have no idea waht they are like but I plan on getting into them come Monday at work, hahahah work, I dont think of it as work , I think of it as a retirement lifestyle with fringe bennifits !!!
I was able to eat a nice lunch & the salad & veggies at supper , Brought the big slab of beef home with me & Barb & I will split it today !
wellit is almost noon so I am stopping here & getting off the computer for a few hours , havent had my don carlos yet & its about time to get some smoke in my face, OHHHH $ H I T I almost for got yeasterday cigar count, first up was a verrrrry old Masterpiece maduro , in place of the #3 for the start of the day , it was a fine smoke lasted from 8 to 11 AM , then a Bahia gold maduro rubusto , them lunch a Camacho select robusto , shotgunned right into a Mambacho churchill , I had a nice little cigar buzz going by then ( well the brandy helped a weeee bit !) hahaha time for a little coffee & Jamisons with a shot of Kaula , dammmm gooooood stuff !
after the mambacho I took a small break but cam back with a Vengence for the remainder of the eveing ( not counting the time I was eating ) I had a cigar fired up, when the door prises were being awarded I went for a lighter smoke ( Lord know why ) A Candella Camacho left over from St.Pattys day ! , the rest of the day is still a bit of a blur to me as I did continue to drink well into the night , but I did manage to get home & get a good nights sleep , I am a bit worse for ware today but I will be hitting the shower verry soon & then its off to the Qtr.Deck & pick up right were I left off last night ! Enjoy, Vince

Vince I agree the Crawl was great. I had expected to sound like George Burns this morning when I got up, but the voice is silky smooth. (Ummm....Yeah....) And you are definitely not showing any age, you were ahead of me the whole time. :) Someday, I hope to be able to keep up.

I still have to unpack the sticks into the humi(s). So I need to get busy. And I have a Cusano Corojo '97 that is tapping its foot....just waiting for me.... (Sorry....I couldn't resist the pun.)

And thanks for saving their bacon at breakfast. I sooo needed that coffee....

Well, it's about noon:30 here in Tombstone. I'm off to entertain the tourists, and bringing along a monte 4, a PSP2 and a VR Unicos.

Customer service is my forte , I am driven to do the best for the customer, when the service fails the place will fail, & I wasnt about to have an 18 Y.O. waitress burst into tears , she was over whelmed, the kitchen was in shambles from the night before but I had my breakfast cooked to perfection, I did it my self !
as far as keeping up , you just need to pace your self, the cafine helps get you going & the cigars just keep you going, if you noticed the only time I didnt have a cigar was when I was eating.
just learn to pace yourself, dont burn out to early, when we got to king beaver & was still hitting on all 8 cylinders , BUT when every one left I was able to sit down put my feet up & decompress

Well Kids its that time again , it is Sunday 27 May 07 , & a wonderful day here in da Burgh, I have recovered from the cigar crawl to some extent, but it really kicked in last Sunday afternoon when I fell asleep in the Qtr.Deck, it was a Nice 2 hour nap ! well back to the cigars & forget about the nap , thats just old age creeping up on me, dont laugh it will happen to you some day sooner than you want !!
I have been enjoying all the fruits of the cigar search & destroy this past week, smoking some old vintage cigars that I bought on past crawls & replaced them this year to let them age a bit I broke open a box of Monte #2 torps that I have had since 1988, Swwwwweeeeeet honey of the Gods , a Tanzanian Peaberry coffee & a snifter of 17 Y.O. Bowmore I was in hog heaven , I had Spyro Gyro on the CD player with some Miles & Coletrain at the ready, some one must have mis filed the Cd's as I removed a disc from the package it was Beethoven not Miles so I went to the Beethoven case & there was Miles , I bet he had a great conversation with the old guard & who's to say next time around Beethoven will swing ! hahahahaha
I haven't been doing much in the kitchen this past week, but yesterday I did a mess of Veggies on the grill, , from, asparagas & Corn on the cob to Zucchini , , dammm good stuff , BUT man the natural gas that it forms hahahahaha , just dont get down wind of me today hahahaha

today will just be a few burgers on the grill, , no Buns , I had all the bread I am going to eat today at breakfast, one lone slice of Oatmeal bread , dammm I got on the scale & put on 3 more pounds , thats Gotta STOP RIGHT NOW , it has been 3 years since my By Pass I dont want to slide back into old habbits like PIGGING OUT ON ANYTHING & EVERYTHING , back to the tofu & lots of water, tofu for breakfast is a must from here on out, I did have one slice of backon , one egg & one slice of toast for breakfast this morning but thats the end, , the egg is ok with the tofu , but I need to get rid of the fats & the carbs, to some degree, a little of both can go a long way

I got a box in the UPS shipment thisd past week adressed to Dick Head @ King Beaver Cigars , well being the brave soul I am I opened it , it was the stuff I lerft on the bus when I was on the crawl, a box of Anjehos & a box of Troya maduro , only a few missing from one box & the other one was still shrink wrapped so it was a little less likely to be purged of a few sticks hahahahaha
Thanks Rob I would have forgotten my ass had it not been attached ! , I know where my head was , it had a cigar stuck in its mouth & a drink at the ready !!
My wife & I went "shopping" yesterday afternoon ( she shopped & I Paid ) & we got some hanging baskets of flowers, well last night her & the daugher went "shopping " again so I was able to sit on the back deck watch the birds at the feeder the Hummingbirds dart from the plants & watch the deer at the salt lick while smoking a nice OLD Opus X torp , sipping a fine old snifter of Laugavulin & a cup of Espresso , the taste buds were dancing last night to be sure !, since the wife & daughter were shopping last night I didnt get to go for my Saturday night Cigar ride, & dammmm gladd of it, gas is now $3.09 at the discount stations & $3.15 at the station where they Pump it for you , dammm what ever happened to the kids who had jobs at the local gas station pumping gas , checking oil & washing windows , FULL SERVICE was what it was called, I bet a lot of you young guys never saw anything like that, the Atlantic station near the place I grew up & the Texaco station across the street from it , were FULL SERVICE stations , the Gus pump jokeys wore BOW ties & hats, & when you Paid 29 cents for a gallon of gas, you got your moneys worth of service, empty the ashtrys wash the windows , check the tires antifreeze & oil, all while the pump was filling , on Saturdays you got the front & rear floor vaccumed when you got a fill up & Sundays the place was CLOSED !, dammmm I guess I am showing my age ! hahahaha
the weather has been almost like August here at the tail end of May , warm evenings sitting on the back deck coffee, cigars ,scotch, & great music, what a way to end a day ! , Time to fire up the second pot of Kona pull out a Don Carlos #3 & get the day off to a good start !
Enjoy, Vince

Not YOU for sure you OLD FART ! hahahaha

Well, almost noon here in Tombstone, AZ, The Town Too Tough To Die.

We're still celebrating "Wyatt Earp Days" as well as the John Wayne Centennial, so I'll spend most of the day in town.

The temps are supposed to hover around 100° today, a tad warm, but I'll have the cowboy gear on anyway, help entertain and direct tourists.

I have two, three quart canteens filled with ice water, can't dehydrate here, that would be very not good. Gonna leave the horse in today, too hot for him, I'll ride the Harley into town.

So, in my saddle bags, I shall have my travel humidor, packed with Monte Edmundo, Bolivar Royal Corona, HdM Epi2, and a PSD4. That should hold me till I come home to let the dogs out.

Sounds like a good time Colonel. If the lady wasn't working this weekend we'd prolly make the drive up there to check it out. It's been many years since I've been to Tombstone.

On the temps - I find myself sitting inside playing chess more and hanging out on the patio with a cigar less. It's not too bad yet but the really hot days are just around the corner. I'll hang out back with an after lunch cigar today and tomorrow but I know that's only for a few more weekends. Pretty soon it will be just a late evening smoke with a beer and a nice cool 98° breeze blowing from the west lol.

Good afternoon to all of you. To The Colonel, sounds like you're going to town in style today, and yes, at 100+ degrees, best to take the Harley Hog and leave the caballo in the shade with some cold water and fresh oats. Enjoy those Wyatt Earp Days. I'm fascinated by this Tombstone place The Colonel just moved to. Sounds like they haven't moved much since 1907, let alone 2007. I kind of like the sound of that.

Vince, at least you hang out with people who will RETURN your cigars instead of making off with them, slapping you on the back when you tell them the story and saying sorry for your loss, buddy, gotta be more careful y'know. I've got a friend who plays low stakes card games, and has a lifelong friend with a habit of swiping chips and palming cards. With friends like that you have to watch your cigars. And I see they got the name at your address right, Mr. Head, hee, hee, heee!!!

I'm enjoying the morning coffee, getting ready for another pot, and finishing the first stage of moving in to my new apartment. I'm down to just a couple boxes of personal papers, categorizing and filing those, and then everything will be put away. There's still things to hang on walls, and other work, other needs, but the first stage of moving in will be accomplished. And now for yet another stressful task, which is getting the figures to my accountant for my last two years taxes.

That's right folks, my last two years taxes, THEN maybe I'll calm down a little. In the meantime, maybe I'll have a cigar. Maybe some day I'll start a new brand, Chicken Without A Head Cigars, for those besieged with stress, heh, heh!!!

when you get that new Brand on the shelves I want to be the first one to have them !!!!!

you never know, you might hit the power ball ! hahaha

im not old at all. I am who you are calling "kid"

however, I remember full service gass stations. There were a few in the area where i grew up. Youd roll over the little hose and "DING DING!!" a guy would come out and start pumpin it for you.

i also remember the transition between the two. a few pumps were "full service" and a few were "self service"

i kept begging my mom to go to the full service one but she didnt want to pay the 10 cents more or so a gallon to get it all done. Even then a full tank was under $10.00

Much like every sunday here in Akron Ohio i had to work. However, i almost always get off early in the day and can spend some time with the Woman. Never seem to find time for a cigar on sunday, but i guess thats what monday after work is for. I know its a holiday and all, but i have my job to do. mmmm inventory.

after that i have a cook out planed. The Chicken is already in the marinade. (secret family recipie) Nothin better than chicken on the grill and a cigar in the hand.

well KID grab that chicken (after its cooked) & take a SE drive to the land of the Burgh , the cigars are at 70/70 the coffee will be on & the scotch is a single malt of a vintage to be picked from the 5 when you get here ! Enjoy, Vince
& dont forget the chicken hahahaha

You guys crack me up!! Speaking of remembering, I remember when the milk man came to your house with a horse pulling his trailer full of milk. We all used to get sugar cubes and feed them to him, and that wasn't really that long ago either.

It has been the weekend for planting here in Stoon also. My wife and I went to Superstore and got some nice tomatoes and beans to put in pots for some veges this year. We also got some nice flowers, but with a risk of frost yet, they will wait till next week to go in the ground.

We just have to tell ourselves summer is on its way! Have a great week my brothers and sisters!

You remember a milkman that had a horse?!?!?!?!!?? Just HOW old ARE you any way? I know Canada has thankfully retained some more of that quaint old culture than America has, but I can't imagine any one old enough to remember a horse drawn milk carriage. Maybe if they're well, hmmmmmmmmmm, well, I guess if you were from Oklahoma and you fought in WWII, which would make you at least 80, yeah, maybe.

So Gordon, did you call him Daddy? Hahahaha

Frost? heck darn near 100 here in Northern Cal.

I spent the day fixin up the yard for the boss and getting a little sun burn. It's all good though.

hope you all enjoy the lng weekend.

Rick
