IT is Sunday 22 JULY 07, it is time for the Sunday morning post , welll a lot has been going on here in da burgh this past week, , last night was Cruse the Hub , a car show in Rochester Pa , the streets were lines with custom cars, antiques ,classics & a few tecno race cars, like the 4 door imports that sound like a motorcycle , with big wings on the back & doors that flip up instead of out , a few show bikes 7 a bunch of custom trucks , some Bigfoot types some low riders with air suspentions driving arround on 3 wheels , hold the left front off the ground like a pinky finger when sipping tea with the queen hahahahaha , I took a Bunch of cigars with me & set up a table , what a waist of time , after expences & not counting my time I made about 115 bucks for the day , & my time is worth more than that to me so it was a loosing propisition day , but I did get to see a lot of nice cars, trucks & bikes as welll as a LOT of clevage , so it wasnt a total loss for the day!!!!
we had a Roller in the shop fgrom Prodomo last Tuesday , Raual was a tiny little guy with a total lack of English & my Spanish is limited to Cervasa & Punta , just enough to get my self in trouble !, the sales rep did speak a little Spanish so it was a good day , Tuesday is the slowest day of the week for us , but with the promoition & the roller we did move a lot of stock that day !
I have noticed that I have put back a few pounds , so before it gets out of hand & I need to loose a lot I am nipping it in the bud & cutting back on the portion size again , looks like I am just a glutton & love my food way to much . so Breakfast was one egg one slice of bacon , & a slice of cheese , no toast lots of coffee, & since today is Sunday it is Kona , light roast refreshing & smoth, the old Don Carlos #3 is standing by & waiting to go out on the back deck & fire it up with the second pot of Kona .

I noticed a few wasps flying in my home under the overhang & disapearing into the sofit & facia , fearing that they were building a nest & I didnt want them in my walls & got out the ladder & the spray, & filled the air with raid & sprayed down the area that they were going in & out, well I was a bit slower than the damm bugs & one got me right over the left eye on the forehead, now it looks like a zit I had back in high school , dammmm to be young again hahahahahaha
I am cooking on the grill today , sausage & peppers , maybe a little onion & some garlic to go with it , there is some thing wonderful about grilled veggies that i just love , the smokey flavor goes so well with a cigar & a Islay scotch , dammmmm its goood !
the weather has been great this poast week , just what Summer should be we did have a few showers , but I was able to ride the bike to work a few days , dammmm its nice comming home in the dark watching out for deer, raccons , possums & rabbits running out in front of you , they can play hell with the bike & your body if you go down after hitting one of them & they are so stupid , well not really , we are the stupid one, building roads through there home, they just go where they want & to hell with the stipid people who build roads "we dont need no stinking roads "
hahahaha

My daughter wrote a paper on Ethics for a class in her masters program & it getting published some time this year,, what she knows about ethics is way beyond me , I wonder where the hell she learnrd anything about it hahahahaha , I guess the do as I say & not as I do took root some place hahahaha , or maybe the old addage if you cant dazzel em with brilliance baffel them with BS, just might be tha BS route !

My wife Barb is going to see a cardoligest ( sp ) Heart doc, next week, he BP is ok , but her paulse rate is verrrrrry low , I have been trying to get her excited about some thing but she is tired of it after all we have been married 37 years come this August, so not even the Zorro outfit gets her motavated any more . dammmm its tuff getting OLD hahahahahaha

Time for a pot of coffee & a cigar , Enjoy, Vince

Ahhhhhhhh Vince, what can I say, what can I say about your latest post in what some day may win an award for the Longest Running Thread On The Internet? First, you complained about netting a profit of $115 in a single day where, and I quote . . .

". . . a LOT of cleavage . . ."

Hmmmmmmmmmm, went to a place where he could see one of a kind cars, literally hundreds of them, saw a LOT of cleavage, and MADE over a "C Note" for the day.

HEY VINCE, THERE'S GUYS THAT SPEND $5,000 A NIGHT IN NYC AT PLACES LIKE SCORES AND DON'T SEE AS MUCH CLEAVAGE AS YOU DID!!! And don't forget the "funny cars."

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHHAHAHHHHHHHH!!!

And yes, over the first third of the summer, we in the Northeast have truly gotten away with murder. I only hope for the sake of my spine and joints that we don't get too much of that nasty heat and humidity. With two-thirds of the summer left though, that's hoping against hope.

It's another great day here in the Northeast, this morning's coffee was a French Press of Kenya Estate, which may be followed by a couple cans of SoBe Essential Energy, each with another 96 mg. of caffeine on top of my coffee, the sun is shining, the puffy white clouds are puffing away out my window, the day is as beautiful as there's ever been, last night's cigar was an old reliable Felipe Gregorio 6x50 and we'll see what this day brings.

Vince, you're like me, you just love food. If they took your stomach out completely, you'd still find a way to eat, and so would I.

Well, well Vince, some days you get peanuts, some days shells. Sunday was a big day on the porch at my house. Besides the regulars we had son-in-laws Mother,Grandfather and sister and my other daughters Mother and Father-in-law total was 14. They made some things that consisted of pickels and onions wrapped in thin steak, mashed potatoes and red cabbage. I cooked a boneless leg of lamb on the spit. As you watch these cooking shows they are using more and more fresh herbs so I gave it a try. The rub I use on the lamb has oregano, dill, black pepper, sea salt and olive oil. The neighbor lady grows herbs in her flower beds and tells me I need to come and get some. So I gathered some oregano and dill and started washing, drying, chopping and measuring. I choped forever to get a half cup of oregano and a quarter cup of dill. That fresh herb idea was a lot of time and work. Any way it turned out pretty good. I found a couple of bottles of wine at the wharehouse store to complement the dinner so we set up the screened in porch and got into eating.
After dinner it was Austrailian Port and Lot 23, Churchill Perdomo Cigars. The temperture was in the high 70's and very pleasant.

I just pulled the cork on an asutralian port called
"OLD CODGER" ,,reminded me of you hahahahaha
I do have some herbs growing , tyme , rosemary, basil & chives . planted garlic last fall but the state came in & burried it under a bunch of rubble from the drain under the road, last time I plant on that hillside hahahaha , niuce slope to it good drainage & I didnt need to dig up the yard, how was I to know they were going to fill up the ditch , dammmmmm ! hahahah Enjoy, Vince

That garlic is probably growing just fine under all that landfill, Vince. I'd like to do some garlic farming in my old age, if I ever get a little piece of land. I've done a lot of research on it, looks like it'll grow anywhere. As for time and work, Virginny Gemmin, slow down, you're movin' too fast, ya gotta make the mornin' last, choppin' herbs and watchin' the clock, waitin' for food and feelin' groovy, right?

Not everything has to be a 30 minute meal.

THIRTY MINUTE MEAL ! It took thirty minutes to gather and wash all of those darn weeds. Then I had to pick the little leaves from the stems. Chop, Chop, Chop, Chop, it seemed I choped for an hour. it is much easier to open the top on a bottle of dried herbs and dump them into the bowl. I am not sure if I am going to go throught all of that again when I have a deadline to get diner ready. It's a good thing I had gone to Trader Joes the week before and stocked up on California's best chard, by Charles Shaw. I had plenty of stress reliever in a glass to get me through the day. Of course a couple of nice Perdomo churchills didn't hurt either.

Ha, ha, haaaaaaa!!! You're reminding me of that Dinner, Impossible guy, the big, British bodybuilder chef with the high pressure, take no prisoners personality. Just GET IT DONE!!! Hee, hee, heee!!! It takes me an hour and a half to peel and press one clove of garlic.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHAHAHHHHHHHHH!!!

There you go, I get blasted by the Naked Bourbon Taster who still has a hard time making a cup of coffee. Its French Press Bloofington !

GOOD MORNING , it is Sunday July 29 2007 , a beautiful mornining here in da Burgh , I was up & out early this morning with a 10 Year old Royal Jamacan corona, dammmm what a fine smoke for the early morning, not that it will ever replace the Don Carlos #3 , since the blend has changed & the name has changed to royal jamacan GOLD & they are made in the Dominican , its not the same cigar by a long shot. Well it has been a busy week here , the shop was verrrrry slow all week but Thursday it picked up a bit & Friday the dammmmmm broke , everyone & thier brothers were comming in for Boxes , not just a few sticks for the weekend & it was like that all day saturday also, great for the business but bad for the inventory, hahahahaha with the asshats in DC & harrisburg talking about Tax increases on cigars I think every one is stocking up, maybe its time to put the Humidors on sale & move them out , cant have an empty humidor at home so you will need to buy a few boxes to fill the new toy, thats good for me & you !! hahahaha
A buddy of mine got married last night , 50 years old & never been married still living at home with his parents, has a Ferrari , so I know he has some cash stashed away some place, a humidor full of Old & contraband cigars that I would love to say were mine but they are not, dammmmmmm ! hahahaha , well if you saw the Movie, "my big fat Greek wedding ", you know what I went through last night, a GREAT BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING" minus all the great Greek food, the reception was at the Croation Hall , the Greek hall was booked !, dammmm so we had chicken & roast beef, man I miss the spanocopita (spinich pie) , BUT the Greek cookies were all over the place Backlava, (sp) , so sweet & filled with nuts & dipped in honey , I bet my sugar is up 20 points this morning, I didnt even check it yet I was going to wait till about 3 PM to allow the numbers to come down ! all I made at breakfast was one scrambled egg & one slice of bacon, & lots of Kona afterall it is Sunday !!, well we smoked a few fine sticks last night while sipping a few scotches I started the festivitys with a Partagas serie D # 4 before we left the house , & at the reception I had an old Davidoff that was as smoooooooth as a babys bottom , & the first out of the box Royal Jamican that I had this morning before breakfast . it was a great time !!
There are so many left overs in the fridge I am not cooking a single thing today after breakfast , it is time for Refridgerator fallout , when you open the door stuff is falling out so Today it gets cleaned up, since we went to the Greek Food fest Friday night & the wedding Saturday the left overs are filling the fridge to the point you just cant get anything out unless you move 6 items to get to what you want ! Anyway I need a break , it is a tuff life drinking coffee all day long listening to great jazz & smoking fine cigars all day long & getting Paid to do it dammmmmmmmm did I get lucky or what ??? hahahaha, I dont know why I buy lottery tickets , I have it made now ! hahahaha
As I have posted here before I was riding my 83 Honda V45 a few months, & have found out when you wife tells you to "do what ever the hell you want ", welll she sure didnt mean it to be taken for what it said, but for the sarcastic & cutting way it was said, So after a few months & a few bruses to the body & ego , I traded in the beloved 2 wheeler on a 95 Contour for the Boss, it is baby blue her favorite color, sun roof & all the toys needed in a car for her, But is she happy yet? NO way, why did I get rid of the bike since I loved to take it to work every day ??? DAMMMMM you just cant win can you ?? well the bike is gone & she has a car it was supposed to be an early 37th Anniv. Gift , Aug 15 is the unlucky day hahahaha & she has her gift all ready but I know I will need to get her some thing for the 15th. she all ready went out & got new floor mats for her car so thats out ! hahahaha
37 yeas dammmm a few of you young guys havent been alive as long as I have been married , but last night at the wadding there was a couple there that have been married 60 years , he was just 77 years old last week & she will be 77 next month, they still fight at lest twice a week according to him but according to her the make up sex is still dammm good ! hahahaha !
I have a Motion dector light to put up on the back deck today , I dont thing it will scare off the possums & skunks but it might so up it will go today, I bet it will just add to the party tonight, hey lets run down & scamper across the porch & turn on the light again !, My wife wants it up so it is going UP ! ,
thats about all i have right now, I might remember some thing else sooner or later , but untill I do or next Sunday morning rolls in , have a great day , somke a few fine cigars , eat well , drink the good stuff & tell eveyone who means some thing to you , that you love them , you never know when you will noit be able to tell them again ! Enjoy, Vince

That's true, Vince, you DO have it made, so if and when you win the lottery, you have my address, hee, hee, heee!!!

Aug 15 is the unlucky day hahahaha & she has her gift all ready but I know I will need to get her some thing for the 15th. she all ready went out & got new floor mats for her car so thats out ! hahahaha
37 yeas dammmm a few of you young guys havent been alive as long as I have been married

Very close, lol. I will turn 38 on August 16th. That makes me almost a year old when you two got married. Those were the days, all I did was eat, sh*t, and sleep. Come to think of it, that is pretty much what I did today, a couple cigars got burned as well, but otherwise, a lazy day.

VaGentleman, I'm with you on the chopping herbs thing, lol. You can get away with dried herbs, just make sure you give them a grind with your fingers to bring out the aroma. Works for me.

August 15th is my mother's birthday. August 16th is the day Elvis died. It's also a famous (UGH!!!) "singer's" birthday, but that's not necessary right now, hee, hee, heee!!!

My younger brother was born on August 16th, six years after me, I have an Aunt with the same birthday and for a while, I had two friends that were close, one on the 15th and one on the 17th. We came to the decision that the week of our birthdays was to be a weeklong celebration. I called it massive hangover week, it got to the point in the later years where I was glad the week was over.

Bloof, calling her a singer is like calling Rosie Oversize Donnell an insightful political commentator - you know it just isn't true.

Yes, that's all too true, but if you ever see in person, just make SURE you call her . . .

"Esther."

Esther.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

I found out that 15 August is some sort of a Holy day in the Greek Orthodox church, what ever it is as FDR said a day that will go down in infaminy.......

Things were pretty boring at my house this weekend. I got the power (100 amps) run out to the Wood Shop in the back yard last week. Now I have to wire the inside, insulate, get the dry wall up, at least, on the ceiling, install the lights, sink, hot water, etc, etc. The son-in laws are all ready asking if it is going to be the the new smoking lounge(Va. Quarterdeck, Damage Control Central, Engine Room ?). I did run water but no cable tv and its going to be next year before I can afford heat and AC. Its going to have to be cigars in the garage for this football season.
I wonder who is going to start for Atlanta this year ?
I spent Sunday watching someone else cook on the grill. Went to a cook out for campaign volunteers. Sliders, Rollers, Chicken tenders, Tater Salad, Baked Beans, the usual overcooked stuff. I guess I should have volunteered to cook.
Trying to get rid of some/most/all of the republicans in the Va House of Deligates and Senate this November. It will a good warm up for November 2008.
Looked on the US Senate web site this morning and that Social Security Bill with the Tobacco tax increase is on the agenda. S.1893, call or email your Senators today and let them know how you feel. Foul or abusive language is not appriciated even though it may be appropiate.
Smoke um if you Got um!

Good morning Broithers & sisters of the leaf, it is Sunday,5th of August 2007, today is my brothers 50th birthday, dammm seams just like yesterday I holding his head in the toilet & flushing it , dammmm how time flys when your having FUN hahahaha oh wait it was just yesterday hahahahaha !
It has been a busy week here in da Burgh , with training camp & the first football game of the year being tonight a lot of car cruses & food festivals I have beeen verry busy at the shop, & with the RTDA show this week & every one on vacation , I have been putting in a lot of Hours at the shop,, dammmm life is tuff, smoke sip coffee listen to music & have a weee dram of scotch & get paid to do it , dammmmmm what a life hahahaha .
I was lucky to spend a few hours with the grandons this week, I cant tell you how much Fun they are being 9 & 11 they are really becoming young men , still a lot of kid left in me so I can relate with them well, grandsons are a lot of FUN , more fun than having children !!!!, when they get roudy , just give them back to the parents hahahaha ! At times it gets a little expencive ,but IMHO it is worth every penny !
One of the customers dropped off a bottle of scotch for me at work this week , ( great perks at work ) & it got a BIG dent put in it Friday Night ! , I didnt get home till after 11PM , I had to sober up a bit before I drove home , nothing like a nap at work hahahaha
I got into the old humidor & smoked some fine OLD cigars this week a few vintage contraband sticks from the late 80's & early 90's , dammm fine smokes !
Since I have been working a lot of OT , I havent had much time to cook this week, but today I will be making up for it , the fresh ground beef is in the chill chest & I have plans for a day on the grill, lots of veggies & fresh herbs right out of the garden , everything will be on the grill today, we have had 4 days in a row of 90+ temps & I am slowly baking & basting my self with Cigars & Scotch, afterall I need to stay hydrated hahahaha
I was up at 6:30 this morning went for a little walk & waited for the Sunday paper had a Don Carlos #3 & a monte white corona & its not even 9am yet , this looks like it will be a great cigar day !
I had to get a new battery for both cars this past week the battery on the old car gave its all to the heat & traffic, sitting in the parking lot of a local sea food place when the Boss & I came out, the battery was dead, there is a parts shop with in a short walk so I went there to get a jump, the guy came out with a tester & told me no reason to jump a shot battery when they were on sale so with the old one being 3 years old anyhow the warrentte was up so I got a new one, solved the problem, so the next day my wife & I are at the doc's for a B12 shot with the new car, again it is a HOT SOB of a day driving the car I traded the bike in on & its battery is dead when we come out , how ever no close parts shop so I end up getting a jump & taking it to a mechanic that i had never had any deals with & the ONLY battery he had to fit it was 90 bucks well who didnt see that comming, this has been a tuff week on my cash flow , dammmm I might need to cut back on a few cigars to make up the difference hahahaha , yea like that will happen !
it is back to the Chiropractor in the morning , snap crackle & pop & I should be good at work all week !

Thats about all I have this morning so keep you head up & cigars burning right in front of the @$$hats who want to tax us out of exestince , Smoke one for LOWER TAXES & tell your congressmen & Senators they are all full of BS if they think a $10.00 tax per stick will not end up with them NOT comming back after the next election !

Enjoy, Vince

Good morning it is Sunday , 12 August 2007, for some Freudian reason I wrote 1970 the first time , dammmm where is my head at , still lost on the 70's hahahaha , now had it been lost in the 60's well that I would understand, but by the 70's I was straighten end out (just a weee bit anyhow) , but I digress , isn't that normal for me ? well it has been a BUSY & strange week here in the Burgh , we had a small tornado hit the down town area , & HEAVY straight line winds & a LOT of rain 4 inches in an hour hit some areas , My yard is a swamp , but the birds are loving it, bugs every place you look & fat robins gulping them down .a lot of areas were flooded some low intersections had 4 feet of water , the storm drains were full & over flowing , a lot of sewers were backing up & creeks were out of the banks , the Rivers were able to handle the run off but the river traffic was slow & choppy , not a good week for ducks & geese at North Park , we have a Gaggle of geese & then some , $hitting every place in the park, they never leave all winter, they are ether to lazy to go south or to stupid to find there way, well the survival of the fittest came into being this past week as a few hundred of them were rounded up & Cooked .

it has been a long week at the shop, Gerry got back from the RT DA show in Houston, I stayed back at the shop & kept an eye on things , with school starting soon I am going to loose my summer help so I need some one to work, Thursday evening, Friday mornings, Saturday & Sundays , in the words of Ferris Bulher 's teacher, Anyone ? hahaha
I got a new set of rear struts for the Bosses car , dammmm little car runs fine , maybe I should trade cars with her , Better not I would only get in trouble ,that 24 Valve DOHC V6 in that little Contour body has a gang of get up & go, better she gets nabbed for the heavy foot , I can use all the ammo I can get to make this life a fair fight , so far she is winning & will always win the war & the battles , but some day , by a slim chance to none , she will hahahaha admit she was wrong about some thing no matter how minor or trivial it is but that will be the feather in my hat, after our first 37 years of marriage she has yet to say I was right about anything ! , hahahahaha

we did go out a bit last night for a short cigar ride I was a bit beat form a hard day at the local Fire dept. Fund raiser , a Gun show , swap & ticket show , I was selling cigars & dammmm it was tuff, sitting in the shade ( NO A/C) drinking water, NO COFFEE !, NO jazz on the CD player, NO MUSIC at all in fact , so I sat there behind the table loaded with humidors filled with cigars & all day long I clipped ,lit & sold cigars, dammmm it was almost like a day at the shop, but a Lot of NEW faces, & dammmm thats what I was there for , to introduce new faces to the leaf & the SHOP !!!!

we had the maple trees shaped & topped this week, they were starting to look a little rough well with all the heavy weather we got this past week, I could have saved the 75 bucks a tree , any one have a chain saw & need some fire wood ? ANYONE ? hahaha , Yes the heavy weather didn't hit till after I paid the guy, now I have 2 very nice looking trees , with out many leaves on them , looks like winter has come early to the burgh !

it is going to be a warm one here again 85 F , better than all the 90+ stuff we were having last week, , I have a few bushes & shrubs to trim , BTW what the H3LL is the difference between a bush & a shrub, I know a shrub is a green plant like thing that grown in your yard, & a bush is some thing you bury you face in, but I am not talking about that kind of bush ( nor am I talking about the President or his Father ) , Bush & Shrubs, , strange this English language , but it it is the only one I know , I have not used the Italian or German since the great grandparents & grandparents passed, dammmmm shame I didn't keep up with it,
I have a dilemma today, I want to get the grill fired up & the boss wants a roast, I guess I will make the roast on the grill , that way we both get almost what we want, Compromise , a trem married people use to make sure the other person never gets what they want , or you for a matter of fact, , I suggested we do it her way this time & MY way next time, but over the years , my time never comes , or should I spell it a bit differently hahahaha
, I better get going I have a lot of yardwork to be supervised as I do it , & I dont want to interfear with her reading the Sunday paper !
time for a second pot of Kona & my first Don Carlos #3 of the day, I got a late start on the cigars, by noon I have had at lest 2 or 3 but today not any yet ! dammmm time to GET GOING !

Enjoy, Vince

Ahhh Vince, my sunday morning isn't complete until I've read your post. They make me reminisce of home. My older brother was out last weekend celebrating my bday and told me you guys have had some hellish hot weather there. Sometime I'll make it back for a visit and I will definitely stop by the shop and smoke a stogie with ya.

If I still lived back there, I'd gladly work Thursdays at the shop for free. As long as I had free access to the humidor during work hours that is!
(yes, you'd almost certainly take a loss on that deal. I'd have a cigar in each hand, a few in the ashtray, and puffing on yet another all while)

Back to the coffee & cigar for me. Have a good day everyone.

I dont think we would take a loss as everyone would be in the shop buying smokes from you & you wouldnt have a chance to stop for a smoke, I have had a few days like that when everyone was in & out & I never got to sit down till 4 PM , going steady from 10 am , no break, just stop long enough to get rid of the coffee & refill the mug, & back to pricing cigars & putting orders away, pulling orders for customers pick up & mail order, & running back & forth keeping the ashtrys in the lounge clean & the guys filled with coffee & scotch , its a never ending battle for Customer service, hahaha , & if you dont think I was full of BS now you know its true, I am full of BS hahahaha
