The Colonel said:
It's the 46th anniversary of my birth. I'm heading to town, taking a PSP2, and a Monte Edmundo.

Sweet , 46 ahhh yes I think I remember that year or was that 1946 I remember hahaha , Happy Birthday Colonel many more !
Enjoy, Vince

Yeah Vince, 1946 was your 653rd birthday, if I'm not mistaken, or was it 663rd??? Hee, hee, heee!!!

Colonel, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Today's also the 29th wedding anniversary of an old friend from my days at the Bowery Savings Bank, although I've lost track of him. Also DocBarry's 40th wedding anniversary, and we're razzing him good, along with well wishes, over at HCF.

I was thinking of you this past week, Vince. Seems that while Brooklyn was having a tornado, and the city in general was having two torrential storms in the same week, Pittsburgh had its share of troubles, too. Having trees shaped, huh? And then the wind blew it all away. Too close to autumn to have trees shaped, but I guess The Boss told you, didn't she? Ha, haaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Oh wait, it was the COOKING The Boss told you what to do with, wasn't it, ha, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Anyway, my Sunday smoke was a Magus Gran Magus, which is a Churchill sized cigar. I took a six or so mile walk up to a friend's in Forest Hills. Walked over the Skillman Avenue bridge to Queens Boulevard, and then just straight up Queens Blvd. For a summer day, it was exquisitely beautiful, and the perfect walk for a nice cigar.

Greetings Vince, it sounds like a nice Sunday for you. My Suunday was fun. We, my two son-in-laws and myself, attempted to salt bake some fish. We had a 2 lb red snapper and 2 one lb Black Sea Bass. I gave them the cooking directions and sent them to the kitchen to do thier worst. I insisted that we bake them on the grill instead of the oven. I got a lot of crap from the both of them about the grill choice but I was not going to heat up and possible stink up the house with fish (Wife does not like fish). I do beef, pork and lamb roasts all the time on the grill. My choise is to put them on the spit but I will sit them on a rack in a throw away pan and roast them. Anyway, they prepared the fish and I had a Padron 4000 Maduro and a couple of glasses of white wine while they worked. We ran out of gas about 2/3 of the way through but I had the stand by bottle right beside the grill ready to go. I have to admit the boys did a pretty good job. Next time we are going to get a bigger fish and only do one. I put a couple of NY strips on the grill after the fish was taken off to rest so everyone got something to eat.
Today was the big day for me. I officially crossed the 300 lb line(on the way down) this morning at the weigh in at my Dr's appointment. Next stop was the Dermatoligest who cut a sist the size of a chocolote easter egg out of my back. How much fun can one guy have in a day.
I am headed to the Burgh this weekend for my dad's Birthday (85th). We have a backyard corn roast in Rogers Ohio every year that is a lot like a family reunion. Since you don't work weekends I might as well not stop by the shop.

That's right, Virginny Gemmin, do not pass "Go," but since Vince's address is clearly posted on 137 internet web sites, just go directly to his house, but don't forget the corn!!!

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm praying for better medical days for you.

Right you are Bloofy old boy, The gentelman has been here before , & since my wife is going to spend the day with her sister shopping I think its a great idea to get together some a few & sip a little & maybe a little coffee, , VA Gntleman , I am ready, I might even clean the Qtr.Deck before you get her hahahaha , ( No chance of a good cleaning, just open the doors & let the wind do what it will, maybe the shop vac will get pluged in & the trash emptyed, BUT thats about it , well I might change the filter in the A/C , I had planed on doing that last summer , never did get to it ) hahahahaha
VA GNTLMEN,See you Saturday or Sunday, I will be home all weekend, if you need the phone number PM me ! Enjoy, Vince

Well, as usual my plans have been drastically altered. No trip to the burg for this old guy this weekend. Maybe next month, matbe Oct. Who knows.

Dammmm I went out & bought a bottle of BOURBON , oh well I guess I can let it sit on the shelf next to the Cragenmore & Laugavulin !!!! Enjoy, Vince

You better believe it , Da Burgh has an Amtrack stop, in fact the rail yard in Conway Pa is just a few minutes from me !

That's cool, so if I fall asleep and end up in the yard, I'll actually be closer to you, hee, hee, heee!!!

comming from NYC you go through the yard before you get to Da Burgh

They will stop for you , just ask to get off in Conway instead of da Burgh

Good morning cigar smokers & readers of the Sunday morning smoke, & news from the dinning room table, today is a wet & cool day here in da Burgh ,rain , nice & gentile , that just means the grass will frow faster ! we had a srange week at the shop last Monday was the worst day since we opened ! , didnt even cover a hundred bucks, it was like the cigar smokers were all out of town, even the UPS guy skipped by us on Monday , BUT on Tuesday Everyone & there long lost brother & uncles showed up , it was the best day we have had since last Christmas , so back to back record setting days , one positive one negative , well it all balances out to 2 average days !!
I had a great day at home yesterday, Barb went shopping with her sister & I was able to sit on the deck all day , a lot of cigar buddys showed up & a few cigars were smoked,& a weee dram of Laugavulin was consumed along with a few pots of coffee , a sort of mini herf with people comming & going all day , Then the boss came home with an arm full of packages & like rats deserting a sinking ship all the cigar smokers "Got to get home " & they left me alone to see what she had spent all her money on ! dammmmm stranded all by my self, just her & the packages to show me , dammmm bring out the bamboo under the fingernails !
well last week was out 37th anniv & we are having our special dinner today , I picked up a nice set of porterhouse steaks some corn on the cob,& some Yams that I will par boil & then grill with the beef, a few mushrooms & onions for the beef , maybe a little greens with a light dressing & I just might pull the cork on a bottle of Barbarra, I do know there will be a little scotch consumed after we eat no matter what we have to drink with it !.
While barb & her sister were out shopping yesterday they stopped in Volant Pa , a small tourest trap with a ton of gift shops & specialty stores , well it is in Amish counrty & they got some GREAT baked goods , last night I sliced the bread & let it sit out on the counter top to allow it to go a little stale, & I made french toast with it this morning , dammmmmmmmm was it great, the bread sopped up the egg mixture & grilled to a golden hue , I made 4 slices for the 2 of us & I didnt finish my 2 slices Barb did nt get as far as I did , dammmm good stuff just wasnt able to finish it
I was up at 6 am this morning for a pot of Kona ,Don Carlos #3 & a short walk in the morning rain, verry refreshing , I finished the #3 in the Qtr.Deck & came back in the house & took a nap hahahahaha , the wife didnt get me up till 9:30 . Bless her heart
The annual River regatta is going on this weekend in Bridgewater Pa on the Beaver river , last night was the decorated boat parade , not a bad way to spend a few hours with a cigar & a big mug of coffee & a rasin cookie ( made by the Amish bakers ) , & thinking about the great Amish made cigar I had this past week, it had to be the strongest cigar I have ever smoked , I think it was all wrapper just rolled into a tube , KICKED MY FORMERLY FAT @$$ all the way down the street & back again! Damm & get chills thinking about it !
Not much more going on , but if for some reason I remember somthing ( highly unlikly) dammm I am lucky to remember my name & adress at times ! well just in case I do I will let you know ! Enjoy, Vince

Thank you Vince

Thanks Vince. I think I have said it before, but it is a pleasure reading your post each week. Your writing style leads me to sit at the computer and imagine the events you describe. Like reading a good book, can't wait to hear what happens next. You are a good egg. Hope to eventually make it to your shop.

Vince, I am glad to be back and reading your Sunday Smoke. I just may dig up the "Life of a Firehouse Chef" thread and revive it for my own self pleasure.

A soothing 96° here, at 10:30 am, but this 8% humdidity is a killer.

Got Wile E and Coyote loaded in the truck for a walk, I'm taking a Jose Piedra Brevas and a Monte 2.
