Actually, One Second After is by William Forstchen, not James Kunstler. Just thought I would clarify that (not that I was worried one of you guys would call me out).

do you guys read on actual books? I have not bought a book since my wife got me a nook.. I love that thing!

I've upgraded my life in many ways in regards to technology. One thing I refuse to do is start reading ebooks. Nothing beats a good book. Nothing beats hanging out at the local Barnes and Noble of a few hours.

I understand DL, but I have the kindle app on my Motorola Xoom, and it's great if you have 10 to 15 minutes to kill. Also, if you are traveling it saves a ton of space.

I disagree, getting naked with my wife beats it. A great beer or scotch with a fantastic cigar beats it. I could keep going if you like.:dunno:

No you've done enough visual damage, Craig. Thank you on this lovely FPF for making me go rinse my eyes out with bleach.

I was the same way!! I would not be without it now. I still take it to barnes and noble.. it is free wifi and my wife likes the coffee there..

Knock yourself out.

What I should have said is that nothing compares to reading a good book.

Currently reading "Exodus From the Alamo". A good book about an alternate theory regarding the "last stand" of the Battle of the Alamo.

Finished this book yesterday afternoon. Very thought provoking but you would have to be into Texas history to understand. Started reading an Uncle John's Bathroom Reader last night. Not too sure what actual book I'll start tonight. Bought one last week called "One Second After", about life after an EMP attack on America. I have been really into post-apocoliptic stuff lately.

Dustin, you are really dragging me down brother!! I have been doing quite a bit of light reading this summer, started with "Duma Key" by Stephen King, read another Inspector Rebus, then I started a book called the "Lincoln Lawyer" while reading a collection of short stories by Ian Rankin. Good stuff for sitting at the beach or in front of a nice fire in the back yard.

Hey Gordon! Welcome back to the forum! How have you been?

Last night I started reading "The Long Emergency" by James Howard Kunstler. It is basically about the possible collapse of America if our oil supplies go away.

After only one hour of reading last night, this is proving to be a very frightening book.

DL

Don't worry DL, you can always come up and take our oil. Or maybe we will just give it to you - thats the ticket!!

Gordon,

It's actually not only a potential problem for the United States, but for the whole world. If I were Canada, I'd be more worried about China taking my oil than the U.S.

Should be finished with this book in a couple of days. Excited about picking out a new book!
