What Did You Smoke Today

Nothing for my Tuesday afternoon drive home or at all yesterday on my day off. I'm all stuff up and have a cough. Ugh, I hate colds. Cghgh! AAAgHHCHOOOO! excuse me.

Man, I had a beautiful night. I went over to a friends house for dinner. After dinner, we went into the garage and smoked a couple of cubans while we sipped some Macallan.

She had a Punch Corona. The aroma was nice. I had a Trinidad Reyes. This little cigar packed quite a punch. Rich, smooth and a hint of spice (nutmeg?) The draw was a little tight so I used my pocket knife to open it up. After that, it was awesome.

We started making a couple of knives (the blades are already made.) The handle I'm working on is a combination of Cherry, Maple and Walnut. I'd never strictly used hand tools for wood working (hand saw, hand drill, etc.) You really feel like your a part of what you're making. I grew up using power tools. So, this was really fun.

Tonight, I smoked a Edge Corojo by Rocky Patel. Man, what a great cigar! Great ash too. When I was done I had two ashes in the tray, both about 2.5" long. I smoked this baby down so short I almost had to break out the old roach clip!

I had a Don Carlos #3. Very nice smoke. Great chocolate and coffee flavors to start. Then finished with tastes of almonds and cedar. Great blue smoke, thick. Even burn. Pure white ash. I love these things!

I had a cusano corojo 97 on the front porch with Eli. Great way to end my day. Great cigar one of my favorites.

I smoked a q-ban Punch Corona with some age on it ('98.) Smooth, creamy goodness. Perfect burn. The aroma was delicious. oh yeah and I was at a Maxim party where they had 25 models working the crowd, dancers, two ladies with this bed set up pillow "fighting." And, unlimited beer. I couldn't finish a bottle before they'd bring me another. If you fellas ever get the chance to go to one of these promo things. I recommend it. Good times.

Brenda, where's the pics? 8)
They had people sign a release/agreement form allowing them to videotape and photograph the guests but the guests were not allowed to take pictures.

I had an Indian Tabac Super Fuerte. Very good too. Very nice creamy, toasted chocolate flavor . The burn was excellent, ash held on tighter n' Dicks hat band and tons of good thick white smoke. To be honest I liked it better than the RPV 92's I've smoked recently. Really nice bang for your buck outa these. I'll be buying more for sure.

Had a little Belinda Epicure #5 I received in a PIF (Stick?).
En cedro, shade wrapper, seemed nicely constructed, cut and lit well( used the cedar too!), pleasant to smoke, light pepper and toast flavor. Nubbed it, never got too hot, no harshness.

First smoke of the eveining was a "scratch & dent" OpusX from 9/2004- I picked up a box off of Alex last winter when he was "making space". There were a couple in the box with a little wrapper damage that I "fixed" with a jar of El Torcedor glue. Quite a nice smoke as expected, though I learned that a 1.6yo OpusX cannot stand up to Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA. The Ale's just too strong. It made the stick taste like something entirely different. The closest thing I can come up with to an OpusX with a 90 minute is a Montecristo White Label. Needless to say I switched to lager for the rest of the smoke. While I normally pair top end smokes with brandy, whisky, or coffee I have quite a few of these, and being a beer/ale fan I was curious to see how it went with some of my favorite beers/ales.
Now I'm working on a Camacho Coyolar Puro Perfecto. Or, as I call it, a "C-bomb" due to the intense flavor produced shortly after lighting. (the first 1/4" or so is really intense) The "C-bomb" is standing up to the Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA quite nicely. Actually I'm finding it to be a lovely combination. Max flavor brew + max flavor cigar. Well, Maybe not "max", but pretty close.

Cliffs: If you're drinking Dogfish Head x minute IPA, a good strong Camacho is great but a 1.6yo aged OpusX just isn't strong enough.

Finished my day smokin a punch maduro. I love Punch...nuff said.

I went out last night and smoked two robustos. Cusano Corojo and a Cusano 18 paired maduro. Can't go wrong with those smokes.

Yesterday I decided to have a Monte #4 for breakfast along with some ginger ginseng chinese tea (we went to the Imperial Tea Palace during Asian Cuisine and I've been hooked on tea ever since). The tea did an amazing job of cleansing my palate between puffs and went very well with the smoke.

I followed the Monte up with a C10 Corona which tasted bad at first with an acrid smell, but after 1/2" it was the usual goodness.
Then I smoked the last of Brenda's and Cybrus' mystery cigars...finally.

Today all I had so far was a Hemingway Maduro Classic.

I hope everyone had a great weekend 8)

OK, OK,
I tried one today..
I received a few 5 Vegas "A" Atomics from Chris Guinther in his "Moving Liquidation" sale.
You all have been right, it was very good! :D

Got down to less than an inch nub, TASTY...

I smoked a 98 Punch Churchill while out plant hunting.
It was a Damn fine smoke - can't seem to keep my hands out of this box! I also bought some really nice trees & shrubs today.
I figured with all the rain coming it is a good time to get these plants started.
Smoking along the drive is just a bonus!

Just had a Punch Rare Corojo...YUM! What a great cigar. I smoked that thing until in nearly burned my lips. A wonderful smoke in every sense of the word. Best off is that my wife picked them up for me yesterday while shopping in Birmingham. She made a special stop just for me, out of her way too. What a woman!
