What Did You Smoke Today

After a HELL week at work, golf, and my PC hard drive crashing just before the weekend, I called in sick today to recuperate.

Since last Friday and today, I had a Gurkha Centurian XX and c.com Cameroon label. Hmm, I think I also had a AF Hemmingway Short Story somewhere in between.

I'm just finishing up a CAO L'Anniversaire Extreme. Honestly, it's really not interesting. My local shop put them on clearance so I picked one up to try. It just tastes like a really ordinary sun-grown. It's a far cry from the Cameroon and Maduro L'Anniversaires, both of which I quite enjoyed. It's not a bad smoke at all, just not anything special.
On the up side, at least my clearance raid wasn't a total loss. Actually, I think I should go get some more. The Hoyo de Monterrey Excaliburs they're unloading at 60% off are really quite nice. I just have one more cigar to smoke before I go back. I picked up an Excalibur Corona that's been in thier humi long enough for the cello to turn yellow. Since they've obviously got some age on them, I need to see how one smokes. If they're good at $2.50 or so a stick I'll likely clean them out if they have any left. Well, unless they have more than a whole box of them stashed.
Most of the time I prefer stronger cigars, but I do like a mild smoke late in the morning on weekends, and I hopefully have a week off coming up.

My last 3 cigars since yesterday have been an Indian Tabac Super Fuerte (very nice), a CAO Brazilia Gol! (excellent), and a "Sinatra" that I picked up at a smokeshop for $3. I was mildly surprised with the Sinatra. It turned out to be a decent smoke. Granted, my palette isn't as developed as some of you folks here, but it was pretty pleasing to me. I might pick up a couple of more the next time I'm in that area.

I just finished a 5 Vegas that was sitting in my humi for about 3 or 4 months or so, and it was FANTASTIC!!!! :D :D

I've had a couple sticks today. The first was the Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur corona in the yellowed cello I mentioned last night. I think it was past it's prime- way too mild. I guess I won't be going back to collect the remaining stock. Maybe I'll buy a few of the younger robustos, but the old yellow cello coronas seem to have lost it.
After that I smoked my "got past the phone interview" cigar. I'm looking to change jobs, and I've got an interview with a very good prospect tentatively scheduled for next Monday. I've got a Fuente Anejo stashed for when I actually get a new job, but with getting an in-person interview seeming to be the biggest hurdle I figured a nicer than usual smoke was in order. I considered smoking one of the La Aurora 100 Anos I've got (I have a Churchill & a Corona), but somehow the CAO CX2 caught my eye. Nice flavor, but a good bit too mild for my tastes. I'd recommend it to a mild-medium fan as something to try, but it's not worth it's price tag to me. I'm getting really tempted to go back to the humi for a third time... for a Diploma or a Flor de Oliva Maduro.

Those Oliva Maduro's are great smokes. Tonight I smoked a HdM Rothchild from the Stickman. Nice cigar, but I think I cut it wrong, and it fell apart on me. It was dooo good to sit in the back yard and smoke again.

Edge Missle, good full bodied smoke that knocked my socks off. Strong, yet smooth. Excellent construction, with a perfect burn that emitted volumes of beautiful white smoke and brilliant white ash that held tighter than a fat girls sock. I also smoked a Cusano 18.

I smoked a Partagas Culebra today. I've never tried a culebra before. I was gifted this one some time last year, but I've been too weirded out by the bizzare shape to actually spark it up. When I popped the humi today I pulled out a Punch SS#1 only to find it was plugged beyond repair :?
When i finally mustered up the courage to pull off the tin foil and unwrap the string I was pretty psyched to try it as I am a big fan of the Partagas line. I was pleasently suprised. The cigar had a nice even burn dispite its shape as well as a perfect draw. The flavor was right on par with any other larger ring Partagas from that year. All in all it was a fun and enjoyable break from the cigar "norm"

Yesterday I had my first c.com label cigar. I have been recomending them to people based upon the reiviews of others, but never had the first hand knowledge of how they are. I had a cameroon robusto, and it was pretty good. The construction was nice, the flavour was pretty good, changing somewhat throughout the smoke, but not much complexity to it. I was pretty impressed for a cigar of its price that it stood up to other more expensive cigars and I enjoyed it more. I have a couple others that i am looking forward to now that I have broke my c.com label cherry.

Started the morning off with large coffee and cusano 18 on ride into shop. Finished an installation and had a cusano corojo 1997 at the lake for a break. Have an Avo 80th for ride home while I watch the pheasants and deer do that mating thing in the fields.

I smoked a Bohimian last night. Very good cigar. Beautiful construction and looks. Smaked perfectly. Medium/full great flavor and smooth,

Yesterday was a great day for smokes - had a Rocky Patel 90 during my lunchtime with a cold bottle of water - nice stick- great burn - would have been better with a cup of coffee - but still real nice.

At night we had a party at the office for my partner (he's getting married on Saturda) had a RASS with a glass of cab (Angeline) - it was beautiful. I love that stick.

Ended the night with a Monte 4 with a cup of Montecristo coffee - that was a great combo.

Excellent smoking day for me.
