What Did You Smoke Today

For my birthday Saturday I smoked a Cohiba Siglo II (disappointing). Sunday I smoked a Montecristo 4 while mowing the lawn, La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chiselito (very nice), and a R Y J Belicoso.

Last night sitting by the fire: RP vintage 1990 segundo PC. These have been pretty bitter and harsh. I usually love all of his stuff, but these are way off. Very disappointing. I will not buy the segundos again.

I've been smoking mild cigars this weekend. I'm usually a full bodied kick me in the mouth cigar guy but I decided to take it easy and smoke a few sticks that were sitting in the humi.

Perdomo Reserve Cabinet Series P:
I thought it was a well balanced mild smoke. It had a hint of spice and loads of tobacco flavor. It was OK, I would smoke singles, but not buy a box.

La Gloria Cubana:
This guy left something to be desired for me. I found the flavor, though not weak, boring and not very good.

Monticristo White:
I had for gotten how good this cigar is. Mild body, yet loads of flavor. If these were not so damn expensive I would smike them more often.

Opus X DC. What a freaking great cigar. It has the best flavor of any cigar I have ever smoked. A buddy smoked one with me, and he was just blown away. I know CA's rating system is suspect, but I think they got it right when they named this one cigar of the year.

Finally... I had a cigar! It has been months since the last one. I have been moving and coaching high school baseball. Our team made it to the regional finals, but all that time put a damper on cigar time. Today, I took a buddy to a nearbye shop in Huntington West Virginia and we loaded up on some of my faves of the past. After grilling lemon garlic salmon and barbecued chicken we sat on the back porch and smoked. Man that is the way life is supposed to be. I had the AF double chateau and my buddy had a torano 59. Good stuff as always!

After week of rain, I finally got to smoke last night. I finished a Fuente SG Robusto, and even after it had sat in the lounge for a week, it was still FANTASTIC!! I smoked it untill I burnt my fingers, and still wanted more!

La Caya - not sure of the size but it looked like a 5.75 x 54 Not a bad cigar but nothing to write home about. Great price though.

Played a round of golf today. Smoked an AVO Domaine(?) no.9 (tubo) on the front 9. Fantastic smoke. Mild and mellow to start my round of golf. Although the wind was blowing hard, the AVO had no issues. Back 9, lit up my usual Cusano 18 DC. Again, no burn issues under the stressful wind.

Smoked both until my fingers couldn't take the heat any more (even through my golf glove).

Just finished a Cusano 18 Double Conn. One of the worst cigars I have smoked in the past year. The draw was insanely loose and it tasted like a cardboard fire. I almost ran the hose on it around 1/2 way through. Wow!!!!! Was I disappointed I did not grab a Ashton instead.

La Aurora 1495 Belicoso. This was a nice stick. Great construction, great burn, nice oaky flavor. Had a little spice on the nose but not overwhelming. A good medium. Probably wouldn't buy this size again simply for the price but if it presented itself cheaper... Anyways, a nice smoke for maybe lunch or even somebody looking to step up from a mild cigar.

Right now I am sitting on the back deck with the dog, smoking a 2002 ERDM Choix Supreme with a cup of coffee - just got these in a week ago and they smoke beautifully. Nice smooth nutty flavor - great draw. I will be late for work this morning.

I smoked a Cusano 18 Double Conn. last night. I like these very much, but i do have to say i got a bad stick. The taste was just off. Of the box of these I've almost finished I've only found two that were not up to par. O well, I guess you can't win um all!!

Yesterday on the ride home from work I had a Padron 2000 natural. Toasty and nutty, but a little bitter. These are not as good as the maduro's, but the burn was near perfect. I'll tkae flavour over burn any day though. I can correct burn. It kinda had me bummed out. Anytime I smoke two harsh cigars in a row I think that my taste for cigars has waned and get scared that I may not enjoy them anymore. I had to prove myself wrong; so I reached for old faithful: CAO Brazilia cariocas. That was much better. A nice little cigar before I went to bed. I love that stick. I can now be assured that my taste buds have not failed me.

Had a CAO Moontrance before going to bed last night. Quite refreshing...different pace. Just enough flavor without being too much. Not a flavor guy but these are the only "flavored" cigars that will ever see my humidor.

I picked up a box of Punch London Club Maduro and have been smoking one on the morning ride to work. Very nice small cigar to start the day.

Had a CAO Criollo from last month's COTMC on the ride home yesterday. First one I've had in a while and found it to be fairly good. Burn was off a little but it was probably due to me riding with the window down.

Just finishing up a Montecristo Robusto size. Pretty good. I like it better then the Monte White which I had on Saturday. Very smooth...good draw..nice flavor. May buy a box and let it sit in the humidor.

Fathers day was a good day. Started out with a Short Story. This cigar is always a treat. One of my all time favorites.
Later on in the evening; CAO Italia Gondola. It is one of two CAO Italia cigars that I had in my humi, it was the first time I had the this line. The burn was a little uneven, but the draw was great. Good flavours, nuts and light coffee. Its kinda like a mild version of the CAO brazilia line. Complex and changing, this cigar was a good change of pace cigar. I enjoyed it, but I still like the brazilia line much better.

This evening I had my first Graycliff cigar... It was a Red Label that I got from the box pass, I am guessing it is an Original PGX... Very nice Smoke with lots of flavor. One of the best burns I have had yet

I got a box of AF Hemingway Short Stories delivered today. Got home and just couldn't resist. Never had one before, but judging by what Doc-T and others have said, I just had to try them. I love this cigar! Tasty, great burn, great draw, lasted a good while longer than I expected. I put the remaining 24 away for a while, I just hope I can resist dragging them back out.
