What Did You Smoke Today

Can't go wrong with the Sancho Panza's, one of my favorite maduro's. Tonight (well right now) I got a Hemingway Signature lit, damn I love this brand, absolutely nothing to complain about here.

Axegod, yea Italy looked pretty shaky but they are lucky, Portugal made it through but lost one star player to injury and two others to red cards, I would be screaming about how unfair that is but seeing as they play my beloved England next game, all I can do is laugh.

Sorry Cloudy but I think that prima donna Beckham needs to be put in his place....Go Portugal!!!

Smoked my God of Fire tonight to celbrate my birthday - it was Faaaannnnttaasssticcc!

... ive been thinking about a box of these but due to room constraints I was thinking of splitting a box.

Kuzi, PM sent.

And as for you Bikeman, lol. Portugal? Nah, and it doesn't matter if Beckham plays or not, in my opinion he is the master of the set piece shot from a free kick but I think that Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerard are just as vital to the team.

Scary thing is that England hasn't even begun to start playing to their full capacity, hopefully that begins with a whipping of the Portugese and carries on to the semi-finals.

Oh yeah and I smoked a RP Edge Corojo Toro today, I am starting to think that I may be addicted to these things, Never a bad smoke, even in the early morning.

Last night by the fire: Sol Cubano Sumatra Toro. Nice smoke, razor edge burn, great draw. Nice flavour, medium body is about the only way I can explain it. A little woody and toasty, but all in all generally a tobacco flavour (yeah I know, real original description). A little on the harsh side. Easy to hot box this stick. One other thing about the sumatra line; the cap has a bit of sugar on it, so it is sweet on your lips. I'm not sure if I like this or not. I'm sure purists will diagree with me and say there is no way it should be on there, but I not sure if it helps this cigar or takes away from it.

Last night while walkign the dog, a Padilla Special Edition Cedro. Much better than the last one I had. It started off kinda lite and not much in flavour, but got kinda spicy and the body increased as it burned down. Pretty nice. Not as smooth as the first one I had, but that one had major burn issues. This one burned very well. Never had to be retouched. Overall an enjoyable cigar, but I still like darker sticks than this was.

I smoked a Montesino Diplomatico while mowing the lawn. I purchased a few of these about a year ago and didn't really like the first two. This one however has been resting for a year. It has become a more balanced, mellow cigar with flavors of cream and vanilla with a hint of spice. This cigar has improved tremendously with age. Overall it was a nice, mild, change of pace cigar.

i love it when a cigar from your past revisits you.

i found at the bottom of my humidor a hoyo de monterrey that i had forgotten about. a Pre-move hoyo. (i checked the date) apparently i had been sittin on this thing for about 9 months. smooth consistant maduro. Not my favorite anymore but i still understand why i liked it. ANd for nostalgias sake i may have to buy a few more.

Today was my second to last day of Advanced Garde Manger and it was busy. My chef wanted me to come up with sweet appetizer using game bird...and he seemed to really like what I did:

Roast pheasant with a balsamic-raspberry cheese spread on a base of roasted garlic polenta containing herbs, Gorgonzola, Stilton, and Parmigiano-Reggiano.

Now I'm gonna unwind with a Monte #2 by the beach for a couple of hours before I have to meet with some purveyors who are supplying my friends and I with produce for a catering event tomorrow night.

Damn Axe!! I have a TON of game bird recipes, but none like that. Although I have served fried garlic polenta with game birds before.

When I serve woodcock (Dark red-meat game bird), I cook it rare with a currant berry reduction served on top. I'd love to have the cheese spread recipe though.....

camacho corojo

dear god... this is a good smoke.
this is my first camacho. i had it in the humi for 3 months.
started out rich and vanilla with a hint of white pepper on the back of the palate. mellowed slightly and lost the pepper. the rest was rich and creamy and bursting with flavor. I could get into alot of trouble with these. the after taste was short but very fulfilling. I dont know why i waited so long to try one of these.

im not a psychic but i see more of these in my future.
thank you guys for introducing me to camacho.

Speaking of woodcock and red currants, I recently roasted some Scottish Woodcock and made a cumberland sauce to accompany it and it rocked.
Not many places use this sauce on our side of the pond, but they love it in England. It goes real well with game birds.

Now to stay on topic:

Yesterday after watching Buffon's clean sheet against the Ukraine, I decided to celebrate with a VR Unicos.
Nothing for me today though since I'm all congested :(

Work..... I worked 184 hours in the last two weeks. We still have one of our Capt's out with a knee injury, so we have been working his shifts. Sometimes this involves a 72 hour shift. But, after dinner I have some time to smoke a ton of smaller cigars, i.e. pc's, panatela's, things like that. Today I smoked a Bolivar Panatela from 1994. The oils and plume on these cigars is like I have never seen. Bildo can vouch for that. Although the taste isn't as great as the Churchill size, these are still awesome cigars. Cedar and smooth, with a somewhat minty finish. I have tomorrow off, so I am going to raid that walk-in and smoke some good stuff!

great great .....now i'm so glad I have a box of those Bolivar 94's on the way

I smoked an Oliva Grand Maduro Torp - excellent smoke with a nice long finish, and a real good buzz builder at the end!! :D :D

Tres Rios Robusto and a CAO Extreme Cameroon Belicoso. Both had good burns, good construction, and a nice prelight aroma. Once lit however, tasted bitter and were lacking in flavor. I didn't get far on either. I think I'm just off today. Maybe I'll go to the Standby Brazilia or Edge Maduro later to be sure.
