What Did You Smoke Today

Yesterday I went home to visit the old man while my mom was at the beach. It was a great day to get the smoker out. We smoked apple sausage for lunch. Then smoked a couple racks of ribs for dinner. We drank a case of beer, Blue Moon, Straubs and Troegs (the last two being PA beers). And to top it off I enjoyed a Oliva 'O' Classic and a CAO Italia while the old man smoked a Henry Clay and a Graycliff. Not a bad day.

Joya de Nicaragua Antano Gran Consul (4.5 X 60)

Only about halfway through as I type, usually I really enjoy these smokes and this is no different than usual. Strong, strong strong...Would be the perfect accompaniment to a huge steak dinner. It's almost hard to tell if this cigar is just way powerful or just plain harsh, I am going with powerful, leathery and charred wood taste is what my unrefined palate seems to pick up on. I like. My only complaint is that the draw is really hard until about an inch into the cigar and with a 4.5 inch smoke thats kind of a pain in the butt, the remaining 3 inches draws perfectly though.

Boy, I suck at cigar reviews

Last night I sat out on the deck with a glass of tawny port and smoked a Hoyo De Monterrey Excalibur 1066 Dark Knight that I received from rmrdaddy in a pif. Since Rob only sends quality stuff in his pifs, I knew it was gonna be a great smoke and I wasn't disappointed.

I've really been enjoying the maduros a lot lately. I think I'm slipping over to the dark side!!!

Just curious what the port was? I am new to these and want to learn more. I have a 10 year aged tawny I am saving for a herf with friends.

Now I just have to find some friends. LOL.

BTW, smoke was Opus X Super Belicosa. Awesome as usual, but powerful! Was higher than a kite for a few minutes lol. Now I remember why I let the X set for a spell before smoking.

Gurkha Regent Toro. I love this cigar, one of my favorites. Lots of flavor, very sweet and well balanced.

I have been spoiled lately, spent a week in Canada and smoked Cubans everyday. The highlight of the week, Partagas Serie D No. 4. If you ever get a chance I highly recommend one!

Domincan Bolivar Belicos Finos: Smooth yet full bodied. Nice hints of leather and tobaco, with coffee on the finish. Didn't get hot at all, but did not change at all either. Got a little sweet in the end, but only briefly. Pretty consistent start to finish, so not too big on the complexity department. The burn was pretty good, only had to retouch it a couple times at the end. There was a big vien at the end of the cigar.

Yesterday was a great day of smoking both at Ashes and the Meadowland Maddness. I smoked a bunch of fine cigars and enjoyed every one of them.

'92 Monte #1
Padron 1964 Anni

FINALLY

i got rid of oll my T******* sticks. and i only smoked 2.

next on deck: la Aroura 100 anos

i cant wait

I am really liking these Oro Cubano smokes. Maybe its the price, or maybe its the very smooth and pleasing smoke... or a combo of the above. I got a 10 pack of churchhill from cbid and its almost gone... I might have to go with the robustos next.

I also dug into my bundle of Nestor Reserve Maduros. Whoa is all I can say, what a fantastic smoke for the money. My newie palate cant really tell you what exactly I was tasting, but I do know that it was very smooth and creamy. Toward the end it was starting to kick my butt, so I let it go out since I wanted to be somewhat sober as I as to get to bed. Its funny how time flies when you are enoying a fantastic smoke. I am really looking forward to smoking another one of these bad boys.

I also got a bundle of Duque that isnt treating me so well, the Oro Cubano and Nestor Reserves are leaps and bounds above the Duque stuff.

Went over to a friend's house last night. We did some woodworking. I put another coat of Polyurethane on the knife handle I'm working on. I'm practicing whittling. I made a practice sheath and will soon get started on the real thing.

She sipped Blackbush and I had Macallan. We both smoked RyJ No. 2 in a tubo (2005.) I had a hard time putting that cigar down. It had a wonderful aroma and the finish was long and lovely. It produced tons of white smoke and the ash was a dark grey with specs of light grey. It wasn't a strong smoke at all. Smooth and delicious.

CAO Italia torpedo. Very nice smoke with great flavor and nice medium body. Loved it.

The last 48 hours I have smoked some great smokes:

Monte 1 '92
Hoyo de Monterrey
PSP 2
Choix Supreme 2002
RASS

On deck - a Monte 4.

This has been a hell of a week!

I think Kelvin has gone all habanos on us guys. Lucky guy!

Last night; CAO Italia Novella 4.5x46

Not as good as the gondola. Kinda flat in the flavour department. Got better as I went in but it never really started for me. Burn was ok, but go to the point where I had to do a lot of touch up at the ned. I think that was the source of the flavour problems. Overall kinda disappointing.

Phish, bummer the CAO Italia Novella wasn't so great.

I really liked the CAO Brazilia Cariocas 4 x 38 (I'm pretty sure you introduced me to.) Thanks again.

i smoked one of my last HdM Rothchilds last night - what a difference age makes! That was one smooth cigar, and about half way the spice kicked in - FANTASTIC!! Stick and I are working on another purchase of these babies!

Don't worry about it. The cigar was ok; it just wans't for me. And now after smoking the other four tha I had I have some to the conclusion that the RP vintage Segundo PC I sent you ain't so great. In fact they all sucked. Sorry to send you a bunk cigar. I didn't try them before hand.

BTW: Did you try any of the Savinelli Torps I sent you?

I did. I thought it was a fine smoke. It paired really well with (like Vince would say) a wee dram of Macallan.
