What Did You Smoke Today

Waiting till this morning for my Choix was well worth it. This baby was smooth and creamy with lots of smoke.
I followed it up with a Bolivar '94 Panetelita. I normally don't smoke cigars of this ring gauge since in my experience they tend to burn a little hot. But this one was cool smoking and had a pleasant aroma (reminded me of burnt rose hips). Not a whole lot in the flavor dept probably due to its age but that didn't stop it from being a solid 45 minute smoke.
Then there's the cello  It was so yellow it reminded me of my 7th grade english teacher's teeth, who was a 3 1/2 pk a day smoker

Axe, you crack me up!

Last night went over to Juice Bags house (Alex knows him) for a nice Sunday dinner of roast and potatoes. I had my first taste of the new Cohiba Black. Nice and complex, but it lacked the spice that I assumed it would have. Decent smoke, if it were half the price.

I smoked a few cigars this weekend. I guess it was a mild weekend for me.

I started off with a 5 vegas Gold. Only mild in strength, there is quite a bit of spice in this guy, I liked it.

I then smoked a CI Legends Copper Label. Don't kill me, but I like these!

Last but not least I smoked a Rocky Patel Conn. Good flavor, but easily lost with the rum and coke i was drinking.

overall a nice weekend. I got some 5 vegas Limitadas in that I'm dying to smoke!

I spent the weekend in Cabo, Mexico. Fortunately I found a nice LCDH and enjoyed some Qbans.

Cuaba Generosos - thought it was average. I like the shape but had burn issues and was bland.

Trinidad Reyes - great little stick, very impressed. One of the best cigars I have ever had. Trinidad continues to impress me.

El Rey Del Mundo - good and flavorful. The ones I got need a bit more aging.

Bolivar Belicosos Finos - great construction, excellent tobacco color and texture. Good flavor too.

Montecristo #4 - the color and oils on the wrappers for Monte's seem like nothing else I have ever seen. This one had major burn issues, and was a little too hot. Seemed to be on the verge of greatness, but not quite there. The #2's I have had don't live up to my expectations either...

To be stored in my humi for a later date:
Cohiba Siglo IV
Trinidad Fundadores
R&J Short Churchill

All in all, i got authentic sticks that were well maintained, but as usual they were overpriced.

Nice smokes dude!

Yesterday I was able to get two cigars in:

AF 858 Maduro, which was good as usual. I think the almost 4 years in my humidor has improved this one greatly if that's even possible.

Tatuaje Nuevitas, full bodied and full of flavor. Glad I have more of these resting. I love the shaggy foot too.

Yesterday I visited the local B&M to give a little support and see what he has added to his selection. Like usual, nothing impressive and all overpriced. So I picked up a stick that was not too overpriced, but still more than I should pay;a CAO brazilia pirhana. I continue to be impressed by this line. This is the first time I had this size from th line and it did not dissapoint. Great smaller stick. Good for about an hour of rich full flavoured fun. Burn was a little tough, but I contribute this to the high humidity of the of shops humidor. I only had to do some minor touch ups. Flavours were all dark, coffee, chocolate, some spice. A true enjoyment. I will continue to go to this stick as a no doubt get me in a good mood cigar. It was perfect with the Diet A&W rootbeer.

tonight i smoked a Cusano corojo 1997...

The cigar is very pleasant...it had flavors i struggled to identify with...i had a little cedar, as well as not...with a hint of chocolate on the after taste. i am very proud to say that i finally mastered exhaling through my nose...which greatly enhanced the flavors. The cigar had an extremely easy pull with the bullet cut, but cusanos are known for their easy pulls. The cigar felt a little "mushy" giving me the feeling that the cigar isnt completely packed with filler...which prob aided in the easy pull as well. However the cigar burned extremely uneven and needed a massive correction...afterwards the burn stayed fairly even.

I followed this cigar with a nice yuengling lager... All in all, a very pleasant some, it has aged nicely. Afterwards i plan on following up with a nice OPUs X Fuente Fuente

My Opus of choice this evening is the 3X, otherwise known as the Power Ranger. I've smoked more of this size over the past year than any other Opus for a couple of reasons. First, this one is from '03 and it Kicks A$$. Second, it's a relatively short smoke which means I don't have to be a slave to the Opus for too long...but then again, I guess I am

Either way, tons of smoke, almost even burn, lots of freshly ground black pepper and heartiness on the palate. And a buzz like no other. If they ever stop making these I'll be mortgaging my house again to hoard every last one of these that I can find

Coincidentally after my graduation ceremony this coming Saturday in San Francisco, I'll be lighting up an Opus X "A" that I've been saving for 3 years for this very occasion 8)

Yesterday was a beautiful day in Tucson. As I drove home, winds started to get heavy. Clouds thickened and darkened. The temperature cooled down. Then, the rain started. By the time I got home (3:45pm) there was a nice even pour.

I set up the rocking chair, small table and ashtray on the front porch. I decided to smoke a very small but lovely Diplomatico No. 5. I paired it up with a Macallan 12 year Elegancia.

This cigar was a medium bodied, slightly sweet smoke. I tasted vanilla and cream for the first 1/2. The last 1/2 had hints of some spice and a touch of a cedar aroma. The cigar had some burn problems at the end but, overall was very pleasant. I had a hard time putting this one down.

It was a lovely afternoon. The rain, the clouds, the thunder, a great cigar with a great Scotch. This was the first time I sat on my front porch and what a way to break it in. Mmm.

Been a while but last night I smoked the Don Pepin Garcia Series JJ Sublime. My god that cigar is amazing.

Past week I have endulged in: VSG Round, Graycliff Prefessionale Vintage 1999, Gurkha Grand Aged, Vigilante, Fonseca Habana Selection and others. Full reviews are on Blog.

I nubbed the shit out of a 5 Vegas Gold Churchill. And to think, I sent one to motion! Send it back mang lol I only got 2 left. :p

Smoking a perdomo lot 23 right now with my morning coffee out on my terrace. Factastic cigar and excellent with a cup of joe. Cant wait till these babies come out. They are one of the more reasonably priced cigars to debut this year.

Those aren't out yet? I bought a few at my B&M last week. I generally don't like any of the perdomo blends, but am hoping this changes my mnd.

Those are great! There's a Perdomo tasting at a local cigar shop tomorrow. I hope they're generous!

RP Vintage 1999 Connetticut: Not available until Sometime in October, this double corona(?) has a connetticut wrapper from 1999. This is the supposedly the oldest connetticut leaf available.

It started out very mild in the Macanudo range but faily quickly picked up into a faily full flavored mild smoke. Towards the end it became more of a medium. I definitely think this will be a hit in the mild market, perhaps giving the Cusano 18 a run for its money. I normally prefer a medium-full to full but will be buying these up as soon as they come out.

RP Sungrown Petit Corona: A nice medium cigar. A unique flavor profile, though I wasn't reallly paying much attention. This was the box I bought for the event.

RP Olde World Reserve Maduro Torpedo: Smooth and very floral. Was described as a full, but more of a medium to me. Had some acidity and grassy notes. The good cigar was there but I think these need a lot of time before that comes close to coming out.

At $13+ each and only availabe in 50 ct. boxes, its going to have to change a lot for me to buy these again anytime in the near future. Hopefully the Corojo doesn't dissapoint like the maduro.

Before work this morning I had a Choix Supreme which was the first one out of this box that burned a little on the hot side. I slowed down between draws and it ended up being alright, but the taste was a little off. No worries though since it's the first bad one out of many, many, many that I have smoked

I just got off work an hour ago and the whole 10 minute ride home I was thinking about one thing: 5 Vegas Limitada 2005 8)

Last night a Savinelli Liga Especial Torp. I have not had this cigar in nearly a year, Boy what kept me away so long. A very well rounded cigar, perfect balance, kinda hit the whole mouth. Meduim body, but a great body. Nice smooth nutty flavour, almost a little sweet, but not really. Even some teases of fruit like citrus, but very faint. The second third it begins to build in body and has a vevlty textrue. I have not had anything like this. Such a fun cigar. I really enjoyed it. I'm glad I have a few more to burn that have aged well over the last year. time to buy another box to have for next year and maybe longer. Great stick at under 5 bucks a piece.

Quagmire, that is an interesting take on the vintage 1999. I tend to agree with you in your review. Not sure it will give the Cusano 18 a run for its money but it was definately a new direction for RP cigars. That is the first Connecituct grwn Gonnecticut they have ever used.

Smoking a Bolivar Belicoso Fino from 1994 that I took out of the aging room. This is a great compliment to a morning cup of Joe. Mild and very subtle and well rounded. Hints of sweetness and generous volumes of smoke as you make your way into the second half of the cigar. The cello on this baby is a putrid yellow from all of the oils over the past 13 years. This may become a regular morning favorite until they run out.
