I was very tempted to get that Gurkha deal but I already stocked up on 35 Gurkhas just a few weeks ago. It does have me wanting to order some singles though as I haven't tried that particular series out. I'm a big fan of the specials & samplers because the prices can't be beat. For example, I picked up a sampler of 20 Gurkhas for 40 bux which included the Grand Master line (Barber Poles). Today I was at the local B&M warehouse and they were going for about $5.50 apiece. This is the cheapest place in town for cigars that I've found and Phoenix is a big city. My net price was $2 each. A few of the others in the sampler go in the neighborhood of $6 each.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not cheap. Just thrifty
To keep on the subject, today after a spicy Mexican dinner (lots of good authentic Mexican food here) I lit up an RyJ Aniversario I just picked up. It was a very good cigar with a Sumatra Wrapper and Connecticut Broadleaf binder, but it wasn't able to stimulate my tastebuds after the full on nuclear assault I just put them through. Creamy, earthy, and a bit nutty but just didn't cut it for the ocassion. I couldn't detect much spice and it was a bit one dimensional. It would make a great smoke after a light lunch with a Starbuck's IMHO, or perhaps with a morning cup of Java. I will definitely be trying it again though. Wanting something with more
kick, I lit up a Corojo Label, one of the torpedos I traded some robustos for with Cloudy. Ah yes! That was exactly what the doctor ordered. The spiciness and fuller body matched perfectly with the after dinner Guiness (ok, the 2nd after dinner Guinness). This is a great cigar after a spicy Thai or Mexican meal from my experience. I'm now ready to retire for the evening with a full belly, a light beer buzz, and big
on my face.
Have a good weekend everybody.
